Having Trouble With SH Uair

So, I can do a SHFFL Uair, but not very quickly. What I mean by that is, I can't get the uair as soon as I shorthop as I can with any of Marth's other aerials. I press Y with my thumb and then have to move it down to do the cstick upair and by then I am at the apex of my shorthop already, when I would like to do it before the apex of the shorthop. Any suggestions on how to do this easier? Do I just need to practice it a lot? If so, what can I do to practice it? The reason why I am asking this is so I can convert off the chaingrab on Fox and Falco better with upairs instead of uptilts. Thanks!!!

or you could give an answer and say ask questions there in the future....

maybe try using A for aerials or using the claw

you're probably just mistiming it. Go into slow mode and try to get a feel for the speed.

also you can put a lv 1 bowser with a 9 handicap and a 0.5 damage ratio on the platforms on yoshi's to practice shfled up airs.

I agree with the bowser technique, but I would suggest battlefield to do this, and if you have another controller, set bowser to p2 so he doesn't move, and try to get as many of the shffl'd u-airs as possible before messing up. If you do, kill the bowser and try again.
Also, you don't have to only practice doing the u-airs! I would also recommend alternating between u-tilts and u-airs. But at higher percents, yeah, do the u-airs.

Actually, if you do a SH upair as early as possible you won't hit bowser on the top platform of Yoshis.

Personally I switched to claw to better perform AC uairs/aerials in general, but you can do it with A fairly easily if you input up during marth's jump squat.

I assumed the use of the smaller platforms was implied

what exactly is the utility of sh uairing bowser on the side platforms of yoshi? I mean, you're going to hit bowser no matter how you time it in that case.

I was just posting since there seems to be a misconception eg. in Crimsonblur's list of marth tech, that early sh uairs will hit bowser on the top platform of yoshis, when a perfectly performed instant uair will not hit.

My advice would be to learn the timing and use A for the u-air, and actually all aerials for that matter, as its easier to reach and ken combo with it assuming you use y for all of your jumps.

Umm.... There are many issues with this that I have.... No offense.... but... no XD But yeah I don't need any help with the uair anymore, after playing brawl for some reason coming back to Melee for some reason I am faster on doing SH Uairs.

One good way to know if you're fast enough, is to up-throw instant up-air a falcon
On Kadano's thread, in the second post, if you scroll near the bottom, there's a followup chart on falcon from uthrow. Practice in training mode, and try to get upairs on falcon. I can usually get him at 50%, meaning I'm 2 frames off of frame perfect. I'm currently trying to move it down to being within one frame (45-49 damage range)

he refers to it as BSU. Or, Backwards Short hop Upair. The trick with this is jumping with the control stick already holding backwards, so that you can tipper with the first active frame of the upair. But you're right, I just should've been more clear about what I was saying.

I don't know why you'd want to do an instant uair. I guess for combos?

The fastest way to do SH uair is to press up at the same time as you short hop then press the A button.
