I don't know why, but I find it impossible for me to play Melee well. I can play Project M just fine, but something about Melee makes it impossible for me to play well. Does anyone know why this might be, and does anyone else have this problem?

Do you mean tech skill-wise? I think in project m they made the input windows more lenient to make certain techniques easier to perform. I can't confirm this, though. You might just have to practice them in melee if you want to play melee. On the bright side, if you can do them in melee, you can do them in project m.

Input windows for some tech skill things (I only remember SWD being 1 of them + something else) are looser except l canceling. Instead, that has the white flash to show when players successfully perform it

The physics don't feel like a 1:1 copy of Melee's

Yea I'm pretty sure the tech window is not as tight. I remember asking this question a long time ago and a lot of the answers said this as well. It's not too far of an adjustment but an adjustment you will have to make if you want to play. Just practice.

This will sound mega lame, but it's just gonna take practice. It took me months to get even wavedashing down really well, and longer for more character specific tech.

I think you're used to pm and just need to practice melee more. It's all in practice time, I remember when I couldn't even uptilt consistently with marth and wavedash to ledge or do a full dancing blade,Now about 3 months l can do ken combos and know some tech although I have along way to go.

I think the simple answer is Melee is more demanding of tech skill than PM is. I started playing Melee and I remember going from Melee to PM was a very easy transition then after a month of playing PM only the transition back was a little harder.
