Having NNID visible-Not the best Idea?

At first I thought that linking Smash for 'With Anyone' online play to your NNID was a great idea. That way, if someone cheats or something, you can report them. But then a friend of mine on Miiverse, Justin 2.0/Scruffy4, pointed out something:
"I don't like the fact your NNID is linked in online play. Now a bunch of people will be commenting on my posts saying. 'You used an OP character!' 'You only won because you used up all the items!' And then false reporting will start. T_T"
I'm kinda worried about it now. Maybe instead you should've just been able to report people, but not see their NNID that way if the person is a soar loser they won't bash you on Miiverse. What do you guys think?

It's a little jarring that your NNID will be shown in With Anyone play. I didn't know that, so props to you for enlightening me. However, I think (hopefully) Nintendo will be prepared for what arises, and will hopefully take with a grain of salt that online matches most likely won't be accurate as the real thing anyways. That way, if something weird happens and you win, it's not the biggest deal. Certain exploits will probably be dealt with (like Bowser not transforming back during SDCC) and patched, much like the whole Mario Kart 7 Maku Wuhu debacle was.

Plus, if people are just endlessly flaming you on Miiverse, there's no reason you can't report them for harassment. I'm not sure what Nintendo will do so people don't get spammed to death, but something will probably be put in place for it. Or possibly NNIDs will no longer be shown if the issue persists. Just some speculative thoughts but you never know

If people report a player just because their character is "overpowered", that's just...pointless.
I think it will be fine on With Friends. On With Anyone, though, it could be a problem. For example, I use a character, beat the other player, and then suddenly I get reported just because I won the match. Miiverse is like that and will most likely stay this way even if the 3DS version is out. They'll complain.

Indeed. They'd misuse the Report feature, but if they do, they would get temoporarily banned for that.

I doubt it'll be a problem, services like Steam and Xbox Live have your profile visible and there rarely seems to be any problems with people reporting others without a reason.

How productive. How long does a ban usually last then haha?
About 2 Weeks.
Was 2 Weeks, then for a few days turned into 4 weeks for a short time, but for now it's back to 2.

Sakurai himself said that you get banned for baseless reporting, and the ban increases in length every time it occurs.

Ok, let me verify somethings.
When he said 'And then the false reporting will start' he was talking about on Miiverse, not in smash.

Yes, but I mean people will go on your miiverse posts and bash you.
That stills seems like a non-issue really. If it does get on your nerves that much and they continue doing it, just report them, you would have a reason, after all.

My preferred method is to not use the Miiverse. Or, if people are spamming your Miiverse stuff, report them for that.

No real clue how all that works, the place is full of little kids being silly, so all I do is read Sakurai's stuff.

But really, Nintendo can probably figure it out. If they don't, then they're deliberately blinding themselves to all the other companies that face the same issues of false reporting.

@ SS-bros14 SS-bros14 , is there any reason why you've made five separate threads in this forum alone since Sunday?

Just seems like a bit much. And most of the topics of conversation could easy fit into a post on a similar thread instead.

That didn't answer my question at all, but alright. If the mods decided it's harmless, then there's no reason for me to continue pushing this conversation.

Carry on.

I've only dealt with Miiverse as a secondary thing. Specifically, with posting pictures about Wind Waker HD.

I never bothered to look at the comments my posts received. Heck, I don't even know if it would tell me if I received any.

I did get reported once for unmarked spoilers in a pic of Jalhalla. That's about the extent of things.

Why would I care if someone trashed me on Miiverse?

I think his topics have all been pretty good. He brings up relatively interesting things to talk about. Someone's got to start conversations on here. Just as well one guy making five topics as five guys making the same five topics.

On topic: I don't think it will be a particularly widespread problem. In pretty much every other online game you can see the other people's usernames. All we need is a video of Reggie to play before you file a report in which he says, "Remember: no johns."

I don't see the problem with SS-bros14's threads. It is nice to see someone excited for the 3DS version and creating lots of interesting threads about it.

Better than awful threads like "Is the 3DS version a filler?"
Yes, but I mean people will go on your miiverse posts and bash you.
But hate mails are part of the fun in beating people online. :p

Or better yet you could ignore them cause at the end of the day they're just salty that they lost on a video game.

False reports will be punished, i trust nintendo to do something about that.

Man.... I kind of see you point. But Sakurai has stated that there will be matchmaking. I suspect that we won't be thrashing 7 year olds that will get mad because we know what we are doing. Also, welcome to Smashboards, you have created a nice thread.

As far as I see it, its a Non-Issue. Other Fighting games have used this since first being brought online with minimal issues.

As Sakurai said in the Super Smash Bros. Direct, there will be penalties for baseless reporting of other players and if they harass you on MiiVerse, you can report them for harassment and considering Nintendo's Zero Tolerance policy, enough of it and they'll get banned.

And if you're worried about being harassed on miiverse, just click the ignore button on that persons profile when they start to put rude comments on your posts and stuff. It will literally be like they don't exist

Having our ID's shown is the best thing we could hope for. Anonymity is what brings out the worst in people. If someone starts bashing you on your profile, report them and block them from your posts. Done and done forever.

They shall know my name. They shall fear my name.

Joking aside, I think it's a good idea. It allows decisive action to be taken quickly and easily because instead of tracking someone anonymous down, you're directly reporting someone by name.

Well dude this is really nothing new, Sony and Microsoft made your usernames visable to everyone for years now, hell even games on the Wii-U right now like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 do it. If someone sends you a hate message complaining that you used an OP character just ignore it or have fun with the fact that you made someone feel salty about their lack of skill.
