Having a Problem with Custom Music

I'm running hackless version.

Anyways. My problem is that certain songs get interrupted part-way through by either going completely silent, going staticy, or trying to get replaced by other songs or some kind of combination of the last 2. Now from what I've I've been told this is generally a problem that requires the SD card being defragged. Thing is I have done that. I've also formatted the SD card and have even replaced the songs that were having problems. But all any of it seems to do is shift the problem to a new song. Any ideas?

Hey,

As fas as I know the issue you are describing is caused by merging the music files instead of placing the songs you want after you've deleted the one you want to substitute. Have you tried doing that?

Well, from my experience I know that the issues you describe (songs going silent, staticy, or trying to get replaced by other songs...) can be caused by replacing one BRSTM file over another.

In order to avoid this I had to open the program of choice (mine is brawlstagemanager but one can do it without any programs), go to the song I want to change, delete the brstm file, and then place the 'correct' song in the relevant slot/stage.

I'm still confused. All I do with BRSTM files is go to Brawl Custome Music, Brawl Vault to get already made BRSTMs or I ask darmsamus77 in his thread to make one. By replacing a song I meant I go into my actual SD card delete the song that was having problem then either re-download that BRSTM file and put it back or find a different one. But when I do this the problem just seems to shift to another song.

Hm, I don't know what to tell you then. Usually this goes away for me with a quick "reinstall" of all the songs and/or a defragment of the SD card...but you said you already did that.

From what I know, this is caused by files that did not delete completely, and are still partly there when you move files around. To avoid this, I try to make sure that there is no original file for the song I want to change in the SD card after I reformat it. Eventually, it will happen again as you keep moving files, when that happens I try to choose a different music slot to change. I have also experienced that some songs do not work on some custom stages. (Ex: I had a texture hack of yoshi's island, and I could not get a kid icarus song working until I changed the texture hack)

Also, make sure your song is looped, I think this also happens when a track doesnt loop.

Logically, it makes sense that it would try to find the next available sound file to use when the main track has ended.

Give that a try.

no if you don't put in a loop point, the only thing that'll happen is that it may make the point where it loops (when the song is done) sound weird... brawl doesn't skip to a new song...

is seems that in rare cases someone has this problem with songs... if reinstalling, formatting and defragging doesn't work at all then the only solution i've seen has ben using another sd card, so i'm guessing it's an sd card compatibility thing...

not quite sure, though... it's a rare problem...

I formatted again and took @ Metarai Metarai 's advice about deleting the music already in Project M before adding my music back to it. That worked. Then I ran into a problem of two songs making the game freeze when they tried to play but deleting those files and putting them back in fixed it. So no more problems! Thanks.

Excuse me,but is there any way of saving the %s of how often music plays to the SD Card and loading it from there?
I share the same SD card with another person, but want to be able to set my own music, save it to the SD card, save it to the computer, and then transfer it back to the SD card when I play my own build. Is this possible?

As far as i know, that's not possible with song play percentages... it is with the songs themselves, though... so you could both use the same setting for the song play % thing with the songs placed according to what you want played the most...

It is not. That is actually done through your Brawl save file, which is memory stored on your Wii. If you are sharing the SD card and not the Wii, then all you need to do is set the play %s on your own Wii, and you shouldn't have any troubles!
