Has anyone else noticed that 1rst player has priority over 2nd, 2nd over 3rd, ect.

I tested this out using the same character at peaches castle (so you start right next to each other and facing). Then I hold R for both characters and when the game starts, 1rst player always gets the throw, no matter which character I use. Might this lead to other advantages that first player may have? Sorry if this is well known, Im kind of a newbie

It's known. Also if you lose your last stock on the same frame as someone else, the victory screen results will be P4>P3>P2>P1.

It's not THAT big of an advantage because it applies to when people grab each other at the exact same frame, which obviously isn't that common. But I guess it could matter on Peach's Castle because of the dum starting positions.

Same in every Smash game, and there are veeeeery few cases where it matters in 64. Like Star King said, simultaneous grabs is one of them, but almost nothing else is. Simultaneous ground attacks (and projectiles) always clank, and aerial attacks always trade.

If P1 Falcon's uair hits a P4 Kirby as the Kirby hits the Falcon with a dair, they both get hit. It's all about hitboxes, not priority.

Controller slot priority plays more into, oh, one player is holding another and then they both get hit by an attack, who goes flying and in which direction etc. etc. Actually, that might just be Melee and Brawl; it wouldn't surprise me if 64 was simplified.

For the most part, yes. But a huge part about that game is also going for and getting reads. I think.

Yeah I would agree entirely. Especially since you have to camp for like 5 minutes to end up getting killed in some jank way haha. (aka grabbed by ice grab climbers.)

Yeah, Sempiternity gets it

It's a huge part of a good fighting game - it's the only part of brawl
