Halo's handing its crown to Gear's

Have you noticed that Halo 2's popularity is slowly but surely decreasing as Gear of War's is rapidly increasing. For most people this will seem kinda obvious but im one of those people who think gears isnt tha special. It seems though that all the really good halo players are flocking to Gears simply because its a new game. Im wondering why this is and what will happen when Halo 3 comes out?

Halo 2 is what? 3 years old? Gears of War is barely 6 months. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to say that a newer game will be more popular than an older game when it's the same type of gameplay.

And actually Gears is now dying down on Live while Halo 2 is picking up again.
