Female Villager finally got confirmed to be an alt to the male villager and It made me think to make this thread so we can guess (if everyone has an alt) what the alt would be...

Mario = Dr. Mario
Luigi = Dr. Luigi
Peach = Daisy, Ponytail Peach from MK
Bowser = Dry Bowser
Rosalina = Ponytail Rosalina from MK
Yoshi = Yarn Yoshi
Link = Water Tunic/Magic Armor
Toon Link = Pajama/Conductor Link
Zelda = Hilda
Olimar = Louie/Alph/Brittany/Charlie

All I can come up with for now.

Link's alternate would probably correlate with Outset Island (Pajama) Toon Link. So the default ordanian-esque costume. Zelda's "Hidla" costume is a great idea, but we will probably get something more OoT/Skyward Sword-esque. Blonde basically.

I honestly don't think any character will get an alternate that can't still be referred to by the same name. Nothing radical like Olimar being Louie. That's not to say it's impossible, but all we've seen so far are characters that are still the same character/name. So we can't really draw any conclusions beyond that, yet.

Wii Fit Trainer applies to both male & female.
Villager applies to all 4.
Little Mac still applies to Wireframe Mac.
Wario applies to both versions of Wario (since I believe it's safe to assume both are back).

Lucina would still fall under this, because she IS referred to as "Marth".

I also assume obvious color swaps will return. So Daisy for Peach, Blood Falcon for Captain Falcon & Dark Pit for Pit (since he STARTED as a costume in the first place).

I would hope that Dr. Mario could live on as a Mario alternate finally. Also, I hope Pikachu brings back the Party Hat & Pichu Goggles, but also, they should include a Female Pikachu (dented tail). Charizard, Greninja, Lucario and any other potential Pokemon should definitely have their Shiny colors too.

As for actual models:
Luigi - Dr. Luigi or Mr. L
Peach - Any variant with a ponytail
Bowser - Dry Bowser
DK - Something based around classic DK from the arcades
Link - Alternate Links (Skyward Sword, OoT), Fierce Deity, Hero's Shade or something like Ordon Link or whatever
Toon Link - Outset Link, Conductor Link, other classic young Links
Zelda - Alternate Zeldas (Skyward Sword, OoT, ALttP)
Samus - Fusion Suit, Dark/Light Suits, PED Suit
Zero Suit Samus - Justin Bailey, alternate 'zero suits' from endings of past Metroids, maybe even the Flashback Samus from Other M.
King Dedede - The Masked Dedede from Super Star Ultra
Fox - Alternate Fox models from past games. This goes for any Star Fox character returning/joining us.
Sonic - Classic Sonic
Mega Man - other Mega Mans from his Final Smash

If they don't stick to the "name" thing, then I'd say to pull out all the stops and do things like making Olimar into other captains, Kirby into Gooey, Mega Man into Proto Man, whatever.

I'm hoping Yoshi and Kirby get more colors. Maybe Little Mac will have alt. colors for his Wirefram costume, if not, he could have his pink hoodie. Also Dedede needs Masked Dedede as an alt or (more likely as a) Final Smash.

If Wario gets a moveset redesign, he might get one of his Wario Land outfits (i.e. his standard adventuring helmet, Bull Wario, etc.) I still think it's best to assume he probably will keep his old alt. costumes.

I would like to see Outset Link for Toon Link, Dr. Mario & Luigi, and Link and Zelda costumes from different games like OoT and Skyward Sword.

I doubt we'll get completely different characters as alternates but now I'm much more excited for costumes for many characters.

Samus - Fusion, Light. I want both sooooo bad and I don't even play as her.
Bowser - Dry and Cat.
Donkey Kong - Strikers uniform.
Ridley -Bigley. Am I too late for that one?

I hope some of Mario's cast get their Strikers uniform. It seems like for guys like Yoshi, that's almost all there is too choose from.

Based on Little Mac's costume, being the only non-gender-bent costume, I would expect recolors rather than characters. Even Wireframe Mac seems to be a recolor, just like Dark Link or Daisy or shiny Pikachu. I can't expect many characters besides Wario, Dr. Mario, and shiny Pokemon. (only if it's not noticeable, of course)

It would be cool if instead of alternate costumes that resemble other characters, how about costumes that reference concept art?

Project M did this with Meta Knight, and it looked gorgeous.

The Zelda characters would benefit greatly from this.

Sakurai did state that he doesn't like the idea of costumes that change the characters identity because he feels that it would "take away from the character." So I don't expect any character changing costumes.
