Hello everyone, it's great to be here on Smashboards. I've been aware of higher level smash for a while now, but this is my first real time getting into it. I mained Marth in Brawl but I played Captain Falcon a lot for fun. Now with Smash 4 that situation has reversed itself and I currently main Falcon. I'm really looking forward to interacting with people who share the same passion for Smash as I do.

Thanks a lot. I think I'm going to need some advice on breaking some of the bad habits I've developed (playing Brawl for years on a mostly casual level will do that to you I guess). Where should I be looking for advice? I don't want to waste people's time by asking for help in the wrong place.

For Smash 4? You'll wanna head to the character specific sub-forums I think, depending on what you want. Character sub-forums have areas for all characters, you can learn specifically what to do with Falcon, if you'd like. Maybe try general discussion too, for general playing advice. As long as it's not character specific, anything goes there I think, so.

Indeed I am, what better reason is there to play Falcon? I honestly never thought I would ever part with Marth, since I had been playing him ever since I was a kid on the few times I played Melee. I guess I was just ready to switch to Falcon from messing around with him so much in Brawl after Marth got nerfed absurdly hard. I still play Marth but I often find it's like a constant stream of "Oh yeah, that doesn't work anymore".

A popular opinion. Personally, I find Marth quite solid in this game: not bad nor good.

I've heard conflicting opinions on Marth's viability, and they both have good points. As much as I love Marth, I can't objectively say he's good. His moves are disproportionately laggy, he can't pressure effectively, his range isn't all that significant, his throw game is sub-par, all of his kill options are highly situational, and he overall has to take more risks and work harder to get the same or sometimes even less rewards as other characters, which in my mind is almost the definition of a bad character. Of course this is all just my thoughts, and it's completely possible someone will blow me away and prove me wrong (I thought Pac-Man and Mega Man were bad too at one point) but I haven't seen it myself. I wouldn't say he's awful and unusable though. He has options that work, just less effectively. That's still more then what can be said of some of the cast (Mii Swordfighter anyone?).
