Greetings From a New Veteran :3

I'm a veteran player, who's new to these forums x3 Being veteran doesn't mean I'm particularly good though...

I've been playing Smash since the N64 days, but I just don't feel like I've improved much. I frequent For Glory but lagtastic randomized matches just aren't helping much. And, it's worse than ever now.
Ever since I updated to version 1.0.7, online matches have been unplayable lag festivals. Sm4sh has always had some lag online, but is has never been this bad, with every person I fight! I've tried everything since the update, but it's just… so… slow. Playing with friends seems to work reasonably though, but I don't have many… and all but one of them are below my skill level.

Sooo, here I am! To find players and get my butt kicked :D I only have the 3DS version of Sm4sh though… I'm still trying to get a WiiU. I'm also practicing with no shields, so I'll be even worse at the game than usual. As for how I found this place, I've done Yahoo searches (Yes, Yahoo, sue me) and ended up here, trying to learn character tips and tricks. There's so much great information, now I just need to figure out that whole execution thing x3

About my mains and stuff!
In Sm4sh, I main Marth, Robin, and Megaman. I'm indecisive on who my number one main is… it used to be Marth, but he's not what he used to be ;-; I'm experimenting on and off with other characters though.

As for my mains in the other games… I have no way to play them with you guys so I don't see why it'd matter, but I played Pikachu a lot, Toon Link, Marth, and Zelda.


Will you attend tournaments?
Nope… okay, maybe. I'd need to get some confidence and overcome some social anxieties, but… maybe.


Aside From Smash
I'm a huge Zelda freak. With the exception of Smash, I don't play fighting games. I like action/adventure, strategy, rp, platforming (except for Mario weirdly enough), and puzzle video games. I also like drawing.

And thus concludes my needlessly huge intro.

Aren't there some homebrew-ish ways to play Brawl and Project M online through unofficial servers? (Though I can understand why you wouldn't want to mess with homebrew - it's pretty safe on the Wii from my experience, but the worry is still there.)

Yes, there are ways to play them online, but I don't want to mess with my consoles. As for emulations, I have a mac so that's also a no xD

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I like turn based tactic games, and real time ones as well. The only Fire Emblem I've played was the demo for Awakening, but it seems like I'd like the game. It's been quite a while since I've played any strategy games though .-. It's been homework and Smash lately, not much else x3

Oof, I feel you there. It's been... just homework for me, though hopefully the summer will get me more time to play and practice.

Keep us all updated on if you're able to get a Wii U! Sm4sh U is fantastic, and online play is not bad either. (I personally prefer the Wii U version over the 3DS version - the 3DS controls aren't great for Smash games for me.)
