Grand Rapids SmashFest III
What’s up guys! For the past year I have been trying to put Grand Rapids, Michigan on the map of the smash community. The first G.R. SmashFest was in the first week of February and we only had 16 people. At the second tournament that number nearly doubled. I wish for this next one to be monumental. So were going to go as big as possible. I recently had a meeting with a fellow classmate of mine of Kendall College of art and design who just so happened so be the president of or schools video game club. Although he is not a fellow smash bros player, he has a passion for the intense ballet that is this game at a competition level. He was eager to help. He is talking to the clubs faculty advisor to set us up it funding, a venue, and prizes which may include a Nintendo Wii if they are available in the time frame we have.
Also I have decided to be a little ballsy and am doing three divisions of the game. There will be singles, doubles, and now and items melee that I have been dying to try. I have heard only a little about the popularity(or lack there of) but all I can say is that the decision of weather or not we will officially be able to implement this into the tournament will be determined solely on the number of people willing to try. Because this is a little bit of a shot in the dark the entry fee will be minimal. This is more for the fun of the game and the sheer excitement of the game that is Smash Bros.
So please tell me your thoughts and ideas on how we can make this work and we can make this a great time for everyone.
**I understand that not everyone is a part of the smash community that attends these tournaments so I will be putting together a myspace page so that people can easily find rules, directions and verify attendance.
