Grabs no longer refreshing double jump

If I remember correctly, both normal grabs and command grabs would always refresh the double jump of the victim. In this game this is no longer the case. Anyone have ideas why this change was implemented and what viable tactics do you see that could spawn from this?

I didn't know that. So if you can force someone to recover high via their jump then grab them out of the air and fthrow you're set?

Yup. It's an incredibly good way to gimp Yoshi. It's hard to do, but if you can grab Yoshi after his second jump and grab release him over the edge they can only survive if they immediately use egg toss. Most people expect to get thrown so they wouldn't react fast enough to save themselves.

Oh, my bad. I think I do remember the idea of grab releasing Yoshi after his second jump in Brawl. My impression was that it had to be a grab release and not an actual throw since throws would refresh the double jump. Going to have to look at that again sometime later.

Wait... say what? I had no idea, though thinking about the circumstance that your opponent must have used their jumps and you have to grab them in the air, I'd say is quite rare. Is this any grab? Just grab release? Only works when your opponent doesn't touch the ground during the hold/grab?

Yeah it is quite a rare situation. You must grab them before they hit the ground. That's really hard to do, especially against Yoshi because you might just get a boot to the face from nair.

Turns out I totally forgot about this mechanic. As Nick Riddle said, it's been in since Brawl. For clarification, both grab releases, throws, and command grabs such as Captain Falcon's fall under this mechanic. The reason I thought it was new was because I've been caught off guard a few times by this mechanic while playing Smash 4 and practically never experienced it at all in Brawl.
