Grab Order Desync?

so i was messing around in training mode with pivot grabs and dash canceled pivot grabs and i found something really interesting..... by doing pivot grabs (where olimar actually slides a little) in rapid succession, i was able to make it so i could grab with the same pikmin over and over.

for instance i had two pikmin, a blue and red, and i was able to make it so i continuously grabbed with only the blue one.

the timing is tricky and i think you need to start the second pivot grab as soon as the first pikmin is on its way back to you.

i was able to pivot grab across all of battlefield with the same pikmin coming out every time.

Try it out and let me know what you think. I don't think this particularly useful but an interesting glitch none the less.

I found this a while ago before the mwcc. Didn't find anything in it, but I could be wrong. I was testing out certain pikmin ordered combos (just for fun) and I noticed sometimes when I did a pivot grab, the second order pikmin would come out, instead of the next pikmin.
My only guess for this phenomenom was that an attack was used, and then an immediate pivot grab.
It only skipped two, I never had it re-use the same one, but you did say you were only using two... it makes sense.

I don't think you were actually repeating the blue pikmin in the cycle. I think what you were doing is that you were cycling through, but each time, the red pikmin was skipped over, so the blue one got used again. If you did this with 6 pikmin, you should end up grabbing with every other pikmin.

hmmm what you guys are saying makes sense after i re-read it a couple times. i guess all i can do is test it out with more then two and see if the same thing happens or if you guys have the right idea about this only working with two.

on a side note, one thing that i was able to do was pivot grab left and then pivot grab right and have the same pikmin used for both grabs which looked pretty snazzy. I might borrow my friends digital camera and try to get a video of it.

for some reason this was really easy with the white pikmin and i think the reason for that is because of how fast it runs back to you after grab ends.

another crazy thing that happened during all the pivot grabs i was doing was i did a pivot grab close to the edge so the pikmin went into that "stuck"animation on the edge and when i did the next pivot grab it came off the edge directly into the grab. i was only able to do that twice though during the countless pviot grabs i did today. my hand actually got cramped haha

**** man you can't hate on them purps tho, they may be the only way we will ever be able to use smash desyncs consistently.

so i'm playing around with "tech" as i type and it is possible to grab with the same pikmin with more then just two. although i've only been able to consistently get it to work with three.

how you do it is, you pivot grab right by the edge so one pikmin gets all discombobulated and then when you do the next two pivot grabs with the correct timing the same pikmin will be used because the third one takes longer to get back to you. this makes it so you only have two active pikmin in your chain.

but then you're basically doing the same thing
