Hello my name is Righteous and I am a Luigi main. This saturday im attending my first out of town smash wii u tournament. I usually go to tournaments at my local card shop and they're usually small so this is a huge change in scenery. Im a little out of my comfort zone and dont know what to expect so if anyone could give some advice not just in game but irl too that would be great.

Welcome to the boards, Righteous. Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice (I'm really bad at them), but I do wish you good luck with the tourney.

I'd say just have fun and don't get discouraged if you don't do well. you'll get better with time

If it's your first large tournament, you're most likely going to get wrecked. But hey, don't worry, most people usually don't do too well their first large tourney.
If it makes you feel any better, I was 4-stocked twice in my first match at my first tourney. :happysheep:

You're going to need to attend a couple or so to get really comfortable with everything. It's all about trial and error.

Anyways, don't go to your tourney to win. Go into your tourney to have fun and study other player's strategies. Who knows? You may pick up on something you'll want to weave into your playstyle.

Also, welcome to Smashboards!

Play to learn instead of winning. If you get too wrapped up in winning, you will be easier to read since you will almost always go for gg moves instead of downloading the other players and getting better from it.

Also, a crucial thing: Have fun! If you aren't having fun, then there is no reason to play it
