Getting stuck in shine.

I keep watching all these high level fox matches, like Armada or Leffen, and I keep seeing them use their shines so quickly, like shine turnaround to bair.
Every time I try it, I get stuck in it's lag, even when I try waveshining it's like I get stuck in it's shine, so what's the secret behind getting out of the shines lag so quickly for waveshining and other things like leading it into aerials and shine spikinh?

You need to jump, in that way you cancel the shine and jump out of it, you can waveshine that way or simply throw an aereal.

Looking back at my previous attempts, it feels more like I whiffed my attempts. At lot of my friends who play fox say his techs are all about the speed as well, so it could be that. But whenever I did try to waveshine I would just be a complete mess.
