i play falco and my friend plays fox. he waits by the edge and shoots lasers. despite my shffl'd dair to shine approach, he still is able to grab me, bthrow me off the edge, then when i try to use firefox to go back to the stage, he jumps off and shine spikes me. hes getting really good at his aim, which means more chance he will hit me... i need some help on what i can do to stop him from shinespiking me... and i DONT want comments like "dont get grabbed"

thanks =)

Try practicing pillaring on a character with a star. Pillaring in the air and pillaring with hitlag is two totally different timing. Also, punish him for reflecting your laser. For example, SHL once then immediately double jump over the reflected laser and dair - shine him.

I suggest doing what Lorcle says.

If he persist to kick your arse, try a new main for a while. I used to play Link as a main, for 4 years! Butt then I picked up Ganon, and found I was much better with him.

iv been switching between sheik and falco for a while, i admit that im better with sheik, but falco is much more fun to play with.

You can try to wall jump on some stages and Phantasm I guess..I just use Marth for Fox's though. =P

If your getting Bthrowed then you can Phantasm back to the stage I guess..

Yes, yes you can. And don't get grabbed, Falco has the tools to accomplish this. Just walk up and start ftilting at the appropriate range.

gimping, or getting a gimp kill is when you kill the opponent when they are at a low percentage. usually involve small things, like shinespike for fox, or dair for falco. got it? =)

Tipp on the pillar: Maybe your timing of the dair is wrong. if his shield is hit really early by your dair, he can grab you in between. if your dair hits too late, he will grab you even before the dair.
so try to get the dair in in the upper 1/3 of his shield
sry for my bad english :embarrass

Have you tried DIing away from the stage as he back throws you and then avoiding his shine by using your jump? Mix-up your recovery more, fox's shinespike is nuts, but not nuts enough to make you switch characters.

Oh and also, you can try approaching with shl to grab if he always throws up his sheild every time you get nearby. Seriously though hang in there, his strategy won't work forever, don't switch to sheik just because of this haha.
