Do you think its an effective method? i cant really go to any tournaments. Besides just playing a lot of wifi and trying to get better naturally, what are some things to look for?

Isn't it very laggy on wifi? I can't speak for brawl specifically, because my brawl gameplay is exclusively Project M, but I feel like the 1-2 second input delay that is present on wifi would just hinder your skills.

Then again, because brawl isn't as technical as a game like melee or Project M, I don't think it would be as big of a deal playing on wifi (again, I haven't tried it so i can't speak for that).

I feel like it would help you get a better understanding of character matchups and such, but it is no real subsitute from playing locally with friends or going to tournaments.

If you play on wifi, don't pay attention to winning and losing. And expect to SD a lot.

Here is how to fully utilize Wi-Fi to improve as a player:
1) Pick some random character you do not use and play a few hours of With Anyone with that character to get used to the lag without developing the bad habits you would get by playing your main
2) Play friendlies with people you meet on this website or on the AllIsBrawl Ladder

Before you start to play friendlies make sure to play a round or two of With Anyone so that you can adjust yourself to the lag again. Other then that good luck!

Where do you live? There is probably a Smash community somewhat close to you that you just don't know about.

Believe it or not it is very possible to get better on wifi. Your going to need a few things though
1. High speed internet,
2. A usb to Ethernet converter(I suggest getting the wii one)
3. Lots of patience

Lag on wifi is all hit and miss, you might have a laggy connection with the kid down the street but could have a almost perfect connection with someone 5 states away. What you will have to do is find the people you have a good connection with and befriend them so you can play them regularly.

1 - 2 second input delay? It's not that bad, it has 6 frames of input delay (a second is about 25 frames) and it's playable if you can get a good connection (Wii ethernet adaptor helps) and try playing with people who aren't on the other side of the world as well. If the connection isn't bad it's worth it, you get to play better players without traveling.
