Greetings, My initial goal is to make a name for myself in the smash community. So as a little help, what id like to do is start a thread to allow EVERYONE to improve. This is a general discussion about tricks and tips you would like to share that you find important for people to hear. Share replays, tips, gifs, ect. Lets do this thing!

Play amazing neutrals and practice tech to enhance your neutral.
All those crazy tech tricks don't mean anything if your playing in the neutral.

You could find threads like this under individual character threads. Some techs are more useful for specific characters.

1. Play Melee
PM gets new frauds every update. Only the players who remain good after their character gets nerfed is when they're considered to be good. Melee is always going to be concrete. You can practice fundamentals in Melee all you want with no fear of crazy johning players and future nerfs in the next release of PM.

2. Use a character that is fundamental heavy or a spacie. Pretty much everyone except :diddy::ivysaur::lucas::mario2::sonic::squirtle::mewtwopm:

The objective is to improve everyone at everything. Complete Generalization.
You really just need fundamentals. That's 90% of the game. Knowing what to do when, knowing what your opponent is trying to do. Tech skill makes your execution faster or forces your opponent into a less favorable position. But really what it comes down to is fundamentals. Like, ya know, Borp.

Right. Something I tend to have a habit of doing is my brain just goes autopilot. Its a reflex so I can focus on just going with the flow but I know its not true. Any way to prevent this from happening?

Just try to be aware of what's happening. Has your opponents pattern changed? Did something that was working a minute ago stop working? Does your opponent keep hitting you with the same thing? How can you gain stage control? What can you do differently?

It ain't easy.

No kidding. So here is a scenario. Marth vs Ness, FD, Ness has 2 lives and Marth has 1. Ness has 109% and Marth has 0%. They are on opposite sides of the stage. The neutral game is broken as Marth commits for an engage. What do?

Edit: You are Ness, I am Marth.

Read the approach. Knowing the opposing character doesn't have too many safe approach options. I just wait for the approach and punish accordingly.
