Gengar idea

If this gets enough attention/interest, I'm going to make it happen. Basically the idea is to implement Gengar into the game. This is what I have so far, and everything is subject to change. The basic idea of the character right now is an all-around hella fast character that relies a lot on poison to rack up damage. Extremely short range on normals, even though his "body" attacks have transcendent priority on the hitboxes. A lot of the move ideas are borrowed from existing characters, but the way it's playing out in my head it would be so fluid that it wouldn't matter much. So here's the rundown of everything I have written in notepad++.

PM Gengar:

General statistics:
- Same air movespeed as Jigglypuff
- Walks extremely slow, but runs about as fast as Metaknight with a similar dashdance.
- Very slightly heavier than Jigglypuff, 4 relatively small 'double' jumps.
- Lucas-esque wavedash momentum
- Moderately high fast fall speed, but low regular fall speed.
- Attacks that use his hands and feet have transcendent priority on the hitboxes, but usually extremely short range.
- Recovery is abysmally bad despite 4 jumps and a teleport.

Specials:

- nB: Shadowball with similar mechanics to Mewtwo's. Base damage range of 5-20%

- SideB: Shadowclaw. Knockback = half Mewtwo's, mostly used as combo material. In the air you can move freely during the animation of this move. On the ground, you move forward a little and cannot act out of it until the animation is finished. Similar to Jigglypuff on the ground.

- DownB: Destiny Bond. Counter attack move that "Sucker Punch"es the opponent. Will still damage and knockback Gengar if the opponent hits him, but the opponent takes 1.7x damage and knockback if hit. The counter will take crouch cancelling into account for yourself if you continue to hold crouch after the input.

- UpB: Night Shade. Teleports from point A to point B, can control where to teleport to, can airdodge out of it. Hitbox on entry and exit of the teleport, operates as fast as Mewtwo's, but slightly shorter range and can't attack directly out of it. So I guess it's more like Zelda's only faster.

Smash attacks:

- DSmash: "Lick". Gengar opens his mouth as wide as Wario's consume and licks his opponent. Causes poison status where the opponent takes damage over time.

- FSmash: Poison Jab. Moderate damage and knockback, causes poison.

- USmash: Sludge Bomb. Shoots a ball directly upwards, can control trajectory much like Ivysaur's Seeds or Snake's Mortars. Low impact damage, but poisons the enemy.

A normals:

- nA: 2 hit jab combo. 2nd hit is crouch cancellable.

- Ftilt: Quickly swipes directly in front of him.

- UTilt: Mirrored Jigglypuff UTilt. Hitbox comes from the other direction in the arc.

- Dtilt: Lays down on his back and slides forward on the ground. Knocks up directly vertically.

- Dash Attack: Disappears and becomes intangible momentarily and appears in a new location in front of him. Reappears before he attacks so the opponent does have a chance to strike back or dodge. Can jump cancel while still invisible, but this will make him visible again instantly.

A aerials:

- Bair: Mirrored Squirtle Fair

- Uair: Mirrored Jigglypuff Uair

- Fair: Mirrored Wario Bair

- Dair: multihit drill attack

Grabs:

- Bthrow: places the opponent on his spiky back and knocks them directly backwards.

- Dthrow: Knocks down the opponent right in front of Gengar. The opponent may techroll or getup attack immediately as the animation ends.

- Uthrow: Places the opponent on his spiky back and knocks them directly upwards, causing a DI trap.

- Fthrow: "Sucker Punch"es the enemy forwards at a very low angle. Causes knockdown on most heavies and fast fallers.

EDIT: Added another idea, and reworded some stuff.

Just some suggestions, but I think you should consider replacing Shadow Ball or his up B with Sludge Bomb. His up, down, and side specials sound like they're borrowed from Mewtwo, and he has 4 jumps, so it's not like he really needs a teleport recovery, especially seeing as how you described Gengar's recovery as "abysmal." If Sludge Bomb is his up B, it could fire similar to Yoshi's egg toss, but he can aim it diagonally, vertically, or horizontally before firing it by just holding it down until he's ready to fire. If it's his neutral B, it could just be a horizontal attack that fires rather slowly (sludge doesn't move really fast in the Pokemon games, and typically moves in an arc though), and maybe you can hold down the button to charge it like Sheik's needles, or Squirtle's water gun, instead of just pushing to charge it like Mewtwo's Shadow Ball. I'd imagine the animation being something like him putting his hands in front of his mouth while closing his eyes for his charging animation, then quickly spreading his hands out and opening his eyes and mouth when he fires.

Night Shade could perhaps replace Shadow Claw as his side B so that he borrows much less from other PKMN reps. It could be a slow moving horizontal attack that moves in a way resembling Spectre's Spectral Dagger from Dota 2 and could possibly fire at a diagonal angle when using it in the air like Ness' PK fire, but instead of just hitting the ground, it would path with the terrain until it goes its full distance. Then maybe it could only be used it once until the other one fades away (trying to use it again while one's already out would make him just fire blanks like when Olimar tries to throw a Pikmin without any out. I don't know what it could do upon impact, but since you want Gengar to be centered around poison, maybe it could do that, or prevent people from jumping on its path or something; I dunno.

Then his lick can be his up smash. Couldn't imagine physics for how it'd work, but it seems like the most logical thing for an up move, whether it be smash or special. And for a neutral air or forward smash, he could maybe enlarge his hands and do a big clap or something, with his neutral ground jab being Poison Jab, where it'd hit multiple times like it does in other Pokemon games. His forward smash could then be Bite where he reaches out like the Wario thing you mentioned and bites, with a chance of applying poison. Or Bite could just be what he does when he hits you while grabbed.

Hope you don't think I'm actually telling you to do this, just spitting out some ideas. I don't really know how to word such a long list of suggestions in a better way.

I think Lick could be his neutral A attack, and it could be spammable. His tongue constantly flailing about damaging anyone who walks into it. Remember in Pokemon Stadium (and every other 3D pokemon game) when you send Gengar out, and he flails his tongue about? Kinda like that.
