Hello! I made this topic to contrast and compare different GameCube controller adapters, whether it be for the PC, Wii U, some combination of the two, or anything else you can think of. Hope this helps people to decide what to get! Good luck!
Types of Adapters
Adapters come in a wide variety of types, all for different consoles. The GameCube variants will be what we're discussing here.
Most of them have 1-4 ports like a normal controller slot on a console, but they can vary depending on quality. For example, I found a GC adapter the other day that only has 2 ports for controllers:
And some have the normal 4, like this one:
And that's about it. If you want an adapter, made sure it fits your OS and is for the right type of controller you have!

Which is better?
Now that we've (very briefly) discussed the different types of adapters, let's get on to the positives and negatives of the more heard-of ones.
The officially licensed Nintendo adapter... Oh boy. As you'd expect an official product to be, it's nice, new, high quality, and functions right. Just like it should. But it costs around $50, and the price just goes up from there. Plus it only works on the Wii U, unless you do some clever hacking on your computer to install a 3rd party driver. I'd give it a 7/10 total.
For a start, it's not bad. Just below half the price of an official Nintendo adapter; this is the one I own personally. When you first use it, it holds the controller plug in pretty tight, but loosens up nicely after a bit. It'll sometimes confuse buttons, like Z and L, when using on the Wii U, but nothing unbearable. Support for 4 players and has native PC and Wii U compatibility right off the bat, with a switch on the back to toggle it. Might be a bit biased here, but I'd give it a 7.5-8/10. Definitely recommended.
This one, as also seen in a previous image, only has 2 ports, and only works with PC. Bit more expensive than the one above, and has pretty good reviews. Overall I'd say this is a 5-6/10.
As you can see, this one is also a Mayflash one, has 4 ports, and has both PC and Wii U compatibility, much like the one I have. Costs a bit less than mine, and has 5 star reviews. Apparently works perfectly. Not sure about this one, but according to reviews it'd probably be around a 8-9/10.
