Alright, I think it`s time for the ganon community to get serious about it`s match ups. The match up thread already up is nice, but i think we as a community need too focus harder and more specifically on chars that are giving ganon trouble, or chars in general. [in which chars get thier own thread each for serious match up discussion]

Discuss anything and everything about ganon vs pikachu. Lets put our heads together to help us and future ganon players overcome this electric monster. All of your ideas/tips/suggestions are more than appreciated.

Learn to DI out of the Down Smash before it finishes.

Try to use stage positioning to your advantage. I like to fight most of the match with pikachu between me and the edge. If I can work him close enough to the edge, I can afford to do laggier moves if I'm certain that they will at least hit his shield, becuase he'll still be pushed off of the stage.

Watch your spacing!

Flame Choke out of shield when you block his smashes, especially Forward Smash. You can also Dash Attack from Shield after blocking a Forward Smash.

Running into PowerShields works nicely for approaching through Pikachu's projectiles. Be careful once you get close, though.

Be careful with shieldgrabbing. Pikachu's so short that his Dash Attack and some of his aerials can't be shieldgrabbed by Ganon. Get used to using Flame Choke and tilts from shield instead. Do NOT try SHDair from shield. In most situations, it will only end in pain...for Ganon.

This ties in to the one about using stage position to your advantage. Don't be afraid to Flame Choke when you're near the edge. If you plan on going over the edge, just be prepared to FastFall Hug and grab the edge. Ganon has enough tricks to get back onto the stage that it's really not a problem...I think.

Ganon's Uair rips through anything pikachu has when he's above you...except for his Dair. Watch out and don't jump blindly into it. Experiment with baiting it out and then landing a Bair or Uair.

Is there some sort of trick to DIing that one, or do I just point away from Pika and hope for the best?

And if there is some sort of trick, how do I "learn" it?

Good to know.

Practice against level 9 Pikachus and learn how to airdodge the Thunder, if not you will have problems if you are above Pikachu. If you are near pikachu and him uses the Thunder, shield it and use the lag to punish it, with a F-Smash.

DI down against the D-smash. This will ensure it always sends you horizontally.

I think Warlock Kicks cancel against Thunder Jolts. Worthwhile to note when approaching.
