Hi everyone! So here's a story about me: around the age of 3 I got an n64 and since then I haven't stopped playing video games I love it! The worlds, stories and awesome characters of course I myself struggle with some games because my left hand is slower than most people I was born with this.. on a side note I love fighting games sadly.. I couldn't possibly improve because of my disability I wish I could play better but at least i have fun c:
Thanks for reading

Does the disability impair the speed of your left hand that much? If so, that's unfortunate :(

There are some people with disabilities that still try to make it work, or find alternative ways to still enjoy their hobby. I'm sure it might be difficult to compete at the highest level, but hopefully at the very least you're able to at least try? Trying to be the best is of course a fun journey, but so is being a part of the community. If you can do that by just participating in events, it's absolutely worth it.

That's unfortunate. Even if you can't improve to the highest levels, perhaps you can still compete in different ways? Or just play the game for fun, even if that's not the ideal/exactly what you might want? While not the same issue you, I suffer from having extremely low reflexes, so I can't really improve that much in certain genres of games, like shooters for example and I know how discouraging that can be. I still try to play Splatoon and Team Fortress 2, though, even if I get bodied more than I would if I had better reflexes and reaction times.

Yes my left hand is slower in speed :c (the hand that uses the joystick) for example mortal Kombat doing special moves in a combo is impossible for me. and in smash I have an easier time however melee competitive is impossible I can't wavedash as quickly but the only smash I can play semi good is smash 4 .
And as for fps games I can play ok at best I grew up playing platformers, racing and fighting games
I almost forgot about the wiis numchuck I have a difficult time holding it..
Thanks for the nice reply

Is it genetic or physical? My friend once couldn't move his right hand at the same speed as his left when he was younger, but I believe they were able to fix it to a certain degree with physical therapy. Not sure of the technicalities of it, though. All I know is that he went to doctors for a few months and came back able to play baseball, when he once couldn't.

That would be a disadvantage to playing video games, especially fighting games.
Perhaps there can be a special controller for you?

I'm sorry, but I can't give a lot of advice or even ideas since I have no idea what it must be like.

But here's something related: a Street Fighter player born with multiple disabilities. He plays with his face.

This was also just posted two days ago: a Smash player playing with his feet because he also has trouble moving his hands.

Are you able to play other types of games?

Anybody who refuses to allow a disability to define them and does what they love despite it is ****ing awesome.

I have a buddy who has been wheelchair bound his entire life and only has one good arm but I used to play WoW with him no problem. Now he's been working hard to break into the film industry and has already put together an indie film and does a lot of local stuff. It's pretty rad.
