Gamestop tournament advice

So, since I'm going to the tournament held at gamestop (for fun), and I plan on using Samus, any advice that would be worth my while would be helpful. I have 23 hours till I go, and I want to at least be mentally prepared.

I plan on Grapple Boxing (Zair spam[shush, it's what I call it]), missile canceling, up-bing out of shield. Anything else I am missing? Should I be forewarned of certain match ups? Which moves are the killers? Are they the same as Melee? Am I royally screwed and should try a different character (hah, fat chance)? Any info would be nice.

Basically, any advice for anyone going to the gamestop tournament, planning on using Samus, but is going to be their first time playing.

Hey me too!

You've got pretty much my strategy too xD

I think I'll shield a lot then when I feel like I've got control of samus I'll start going offencive. Just try to feel her out first considering I'll be using the wii-mote and nunchuck (apparently it's required that all gamestops use this set up).

I'll Zair spam and H-Missle spam a lot to rack up damage, and charge my beam up when I can to get the KO that way. I'll try SH Zair - Beam for the kill when their % is high enough...

I think I'll stay away from grabs and rolling as much as I can...samus isn't to good with those (I think?)

But yes pl0x, advice is good!

i would recommend against using samus

she is fine to use in stock matches, but since the tournament rules are 1 minute match, you will be hard pressed to land a kill in that time frame, especially since samus's kill moves are kind of hard to land

Yea, it's probably not the best idea to use samus with the mindset of winning, but the TC said he was going for fun not to win.

Personally, I'd like to win, but I'm definitely gonna use Samus.

Can you perhaps recommend any good set up's to get the kill?

Her kill moves are...Charge beam, Bair, UTilt, and Dair? Is that right?

I'd personally suggest DK...hes who I'm using. He has a really good (horizontal) recovery and has many kill moves including the all mighty powerhouse Giant Punch. I really wanted to use Samus but we'll need as many kills as possible within the short time period and she just doesn't have very good KO power.

I am going to be using samus, but I have already played a lot with her and practiced with the Wiimote/nunchuck.

Seriously, DO NOT USE SAMUS if you want to win. She is very akward.

If you do want to use samus, remember..CC does not work now. Up B out of shield a lot and ftilt them away. Dtilt will kill around 120 so don't use it until then. If you fsmash make sure and angle it up. Has more knockback that way. Dash attack is great against noobs as well. Don't even mess with her projectile game.

I really recommend using Ike.

Why shouldn't he use her projectile game? I was under the impression that was one of her best features.

Have you played Brawl at all? The shot charges MUCH faster then it did in Melee. Watch Hylians videos. Knock an opponent out of the way and you can easily charge it. Charge it after kills. Its not hard.

So, instead of allowing us to pick our characters, we were stuck to random. They decided to use the in game tournament mode, which is fine and all but seriously. I talked to the manager, and of course his lame *** excuse was "It would take too long." My ***. He's a Sony Fanboy, sadly.

I lost using Dark Link. ~_~ Random characters mean random colors too, I guess. I won the first round, but lost to Olimar. The winner of the tourny was a Dedede. He claimed he wanted to play Dedede, and luckily got him. Ugh, I wanted Ike or something. Something besides sucky *** Link. He isn't great in this game at all. Wargh, Samus would have been awesome.

I failed you Samus Boards! *kills self* :p

I won the first round of the tournament, but lost in the second. No Johns...but I had a crappy stage xD.

No biggy, I got brawl I'll worry about future tourneys.

I used Samus. Prolly not the best choice for not knowing the controls and a 1 minute match...oh well
