Starting to suffer from Gamer's Thumb (http://ergonomics.about.com/od/De-Quervains_Syndrome/a/What_Is_Gamers_Thumb.htm). Specifically, I've had some pain in the middle thumb joint and it's starting to move towards the wrist.

I've seen a lot online what it is, but not exactly how to treat it.

Does anyone know of what to do beside just taking a couple months off? I've been going light recently, but because I work a computer job and end up using my thumb a lot anyways, I'm not really sure it's helped at all.

I'm sure this must happen frequently with the super-technical melee players. What do you guys do when you're hitting your physical limits.

I'd sooner quit smash than get a permanent injury. But that would be a sad day. A very sad day indeed. :'(

C-stick to Smash may help some. You can also try moving some additional functions to your other fingers (especially if you have a Pro Controller since it has extra digital input buttons there). Might help.

Otherwise, consider talking to your HR manager at work and see if they have suggestions. That's part of their job, usually (work safety), and even if the issue isn't strictly from work, they should know some ideas.
