Back in late May 2010, I had come up with the idea of holding a Game Convention at the local community college I attend. The idea was born from the fact that the college already hosted two other conventions (a flower and a home convention). The events inspired me. Also I was inspired by people talking about Otakon and Magfest. What I've heard is that at these conventions they host tournaments however the rule set is usually bad and so are the prizes. My aim was to make a convention for the competitive gamers by having vendors, speakers, and legitimate tournaments.
It was a slow start reserving our date but we finally convinced the school to give us the week after graduation, May 21st. we originally only got the 20th and 21st but we convinced them to give us Sunday, to make it a weekend event. Even after the date was made the school administration had some questions and concerns.
In late October we finally got things rolling, a bit behind schedule I might add. I began trying to contact potential vendors and advertising on the web. I had a grand vision of huge video game companies coming and showing off their products as well as seminars throughout the day. I contacted vgchartz, Northstar, and Goosex about doing a seminar. I even contacted alphazealot and Tantalus about doing a panel. Tant said he couldn
