So, we know that the GamePad will be one of the supported controllers, since you can't even turn the damn thing off once the console's started up. Now, in most games so far, Nintendo has been pretty creative with the use of the GamePad's bells & whistles. I'm curious about what you guys think they could do with it for Smash 4. One of the things that I liked best about Brawl was that when you selected a character, you would hear them yell something through the Wiimote's built-in speaker. We know that the GamePad has speakers as well, so they could probably do that. Another thought I had is using either the gyroscope or touchscreen to move the camera when navigating the menus, like the C-Stick did previously. I've also heard talk of some form of asymmetric 5-player gametypes, similar to NSMBU's Boost Mode, but with items or something. What do you guys think they could do? What do you think they will do? Any crazy, off-the-wall ideas that would never be in, but you still want to share?

Sakurai said they weren't going to use the Gamepad's gimmicks...

"Actually, I'm not really planning anything that really pushes the GamePad in super-weird directions, just because everyone has their own special preference of what controller they like to use. You would end up in a situation where you have some unbalance in the controls, or in the playing field, so nothing that is super unique and also contributes to controls."

He wants to avoid unbalance in controls. That doesn't mean he can't add in a new 5 player mode where the 5th player can control a boss or something like that.

I'll stick to my Gamecube controller, that is the best controller to use in smash.

Gamepad will most likely have unnecessary gimmicks.

I WISH they'd do something interesting with Multi Man mode and the gamepad, but it's already confirmed that there's not going to be anything special with the controller in the game.

I wish you could use the Gamepad as a scoreboard to keep the main screen clean like the 3DS version will be.

Well, the GC controller isn't natively supported on the Wii U. You'd have to use an adapter which comes with a bit of lag, but if that's cool with you than go for it!
