Hi everyone, Jazz here with a quick poll to answer a question thats put some worry into me. You see I play with the Wii U gamepad. "GASP" shocking I know, how someone can go from Gamecube roots for 10 years and then swap to the controller that feels like your grasping two ends of a coffee table is beyond me. but it happened and now I dont want to go back. I may buy a Classic pro controller and give it a try next pay day but as far as I know as of now, If I enter a tournament, Im using chunky mc'widepad.
But I dont know how many players actually use the Gamepad in tourny play. Smash doesnt support 2 pads at once. So I may get caught in a sticky situation. Thats why Im asking you guys now, how many people do you know use the gamepad? and those who visit tournaments how often are they used. Am I at risk of a confrontation with my opponent before the fighting actually starts over who gets to use their gamepad?
Thanks
-Jazz

Most of the people I've seen that use the Gamepad adapt to using the Wii U Pro controller, since almost every tournament doesn't allow the Gamepad to be used (gives one combatant the ability to really mess up the game/Wii U, intentionally or not. Plus battery life and the now second controller issue the Wii U already has.) and the Pro has the same configuration. (So less adaptation needed.)

The Classic Controller Pro is more designed like a SNES controller meets a PS3 controller, so its layout will through you off more trying to go there compared to the Wii U one.

Only being able to have one per console, which makes syncing difficult when you bring your own. (Tournaments require you to use your own controller.) All the Wii U's controls are tied to it, which makes it easier for a poor sport to mess stuff up. The battery life becomes a problem, since tournaments can go for 2-8 hours and 3 hours of constant playing is roughly what the average Gamepad will have.

Logistically speaking, it's too much of a hassle at most Tournaments. I usually see the Wii U's Gamepad that comes with the console put away after setup to avoid any issues with it.
