so i've been having a problem with the gamecube controller control stick that nobody else seems to get. every couple of weeks the thing of rubber on top of the stick comes off more and more until it just falls off and im left with an uncomfortable plastic nub. i've replaced it like 3 times with the regular analog stick and the last time i replaced it i used a c-stick piece as my control stick because i thought that would help but it didnt :/

so what im i doing wrong to wear though so many sticks? i doubt there is a place i can buy a sturdier one, so is there a way to modify it so its stronger and wont wear away so quickly?

or am i totally screwed and the only solution is to use the plastic nub while wearing a glove on my left hand? :(

I'm not 100% sure on this but you might be able to replace it with another stick from another controller
probably a ps3 one?

That unfortunately is part of the life of a GC controller user, I've owned about 4 that have lost the rubber pad before. There's a guide on YouTube on how to apply superglue to the stump to create a permanent texture (sorry, can't remember who from), and you can also try replacing it with a Wii Nunchuk stick, which is a very easy mod and won't wear down in the same way.

Few suggestions, but before I get to that I want to say that I've only ever had this happen to me once, and it was on a controller I played with as a kid for like 7+ years on. All of my other Gamecube controllers since I have not had this issue and my sticks stay in-tact pretty well. So, my advice you to is to clean your analog stick with a paper towel and some water/soap or alcohol every week or so, I think leaving sweat/great on the stick diminishes the quality over time. Another suggestion is that if you are pressing hard on the analog stick when you play, don't. All you need to do is leave your thumb on the stick, and move the stick gently, no real force should be on the analog stick.

For an alternative stick, this guy sells the official Gamecube stick, but also sells PS3 sticks that work perfectly with the Gamecube controller.

I'd imagine the PS3 stick would be more durable, so yeah def try one of these and see how it goes if the issue persists.
