i bought that and it works fine using the gamecube controller.

the main problem im having though is i have to press the shoulder button all the way down for the light to show up on the numbers in the adapter settings. it can sense how much im pressing it down, but when im playing in game its extremely hard to z cancel or shield in general, but when i use it on virtual console smash 64 on the wii, it works smoothly and i dont have to press it down fully for it to shield.

is there a way to modify it somehow so that when i press it like half way it can shield? also the analog stick doesnt work for some reason

Anyone can get used to anything if you just practice. Are you saying you DONT want to get used the z button? Because it seems to be your only solution. Cheese

My suggestion is to open your GCN controller and take out the spring for the R/L buttons and line them up so it'll turn out to be a button without a slider. There's a guide somewhere deep in the melee boards that explains the modification.

This is normally banned in tournaments but if you're playing online, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't unless it's your only GCN controller and you go to irl tournaments.

no i cant get used to it.

and i dont think ill take the springs out but i thought about it, i play melee and brawl weekly and itll feel wrong knowing that i have an advantage. but its not like the springs hurt me in rl play, i can cancel just fine on melee and 64 on virtual console, and the settings detect the sensitivity of the L and R just fine, its just that to get the shield to work in game on emulator is hard

so i want to know if i can change the settings so when it detects me pressing L or R that it will shield, instead of me having to press it all the way. mind you its not how it seems, it really cant detect when i press it all the way, only in the settings, but in game itll almost never shield

i may try setting Y to shield though, but z has to be grab and i dont think Y will work well either. my cancel button has to be L

edit: and i dont think taking the springs out will work because it just doesnt detect it when i press L, if it did i wouldnt have this issue, it only works 30% of the time and when i get the shield out it comes off right after like i have to sweetspot the L button somehow
