NEW/BIG CHANGES
Player Profiles
- Replaces Names function
- Create profile that you choose each time you start playing.
- Records vs/solo/online records as you play.
- Player profiles pictures are taken with gamepad
- Keeps track of your favourite character, stages, favourite game modes, online records
- Default profile is used with Nintendo ID, can add others
- Create your own 5 character name key that shows up above your character
- Option to turn off name display during vs/solo matches, but still records the data
- Create save data for the preferred start up game mode type for vs matches.
- Area dedicated solely to Smash fun.
- Weekly picture challenges where you must submit some kind of picture for a chance to win a stamp or trophy.
- Replay challenges where they ask for a certain task to be completed with winners getting stamps or trophies.
- Option to post picture and replays to others.
- View Homerun and other stadium records.
- Various challenge modes where you compete for the best score (sort of like Rayman Legends Challenge App)
Online
- Now has different lobbies.
- Options to choose from stock, time, or other specific game modes.
- Lobbies within those for item matches, no item matches.
- Link to the tournament mode option where you can register for tournaments with different game modes and rules.
- Tournament mode has an interactive waiting area between matches where your player can run around with all the other waiting players and attack each other, beat up a sandbag, or view other players records and picture/replays. Or even spectate and bet on ongoing matches within the tournament.
- Player profile complete with scores for victories, defeats, total damage and more. Wins generate overall point total, tournament wins adding more.
- You are paired with players in your point range.
Adventure
- Brawl/Melee hybrid mode.
- Follow a set story line where you travel from Smash characters universes and fight them, do some kind of challenge unique to their area, and sometimes fight a boss, then move onto the next one.
- Final boss could be Crazy Hand and Master Hand, a character franchise boss, Giga Bowser, or a unique boss. Can't decide right now.
- No matter what character you choose, it's always the same story and starts at the same point.
- Each character has a short introduction video at the beginning of starting that depicts them getting ready to join the Adventure.
- Everyone fights themselves like they are a different character. (ie playing as Mario does not disrupt the Mario franchise storyline)
- Every character treats you like an evil intruder.
- Characters you defeat join your team only in their franchise area. You cannot fight as them, but you can have one be your partner. Starts off with the first character you unlocked. When a character dies, they are gone for good, and replaced if you have any other characters befriended from that franchise.
- You then fight a final boss or do some sort of challenge at the end of the area. Once completed you are sent to another area to do the same sort of thing again.
- Franchises with only one rep will have shorter areas.
- Mario, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Starfox, Metroid, Pokemon, Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem having the bigger areas. Sonic and Mega Man and any other 3rd party character having special areas.
Stamps
- Replace stickers.
- Can be unlocked or found randomly.
- Can be used exclusively to the Smash Miiverse channel to post in your messages.
Multiplayer Game Modes
- King of the hill mode where a certain area of the map becomes highlighted and characters need to stay in that area to be rewarded points.
- A capture the flag mode where a neutral flag is dropped on the course and players get points for holding onto it. It acts like a green shell where you cannot use A moves without throwing it, making it more challenging to hold onto it.
- Create saved preferences for the initial start up game mode.
In Game Dojo
- Information area showcasing and explaining all the character moves, techniques, items, game modes, stage elements and anything else
- elements of the Dojo become available when you unlock the certain element
- Character profiles are unlocked once you complete classic mode with them
- Item profiles are unlocked when they are used in battle
- Stages are available once you've played on the stage
- techniques, game modes and anything else are unlocked through completing various game modes and challenges.
Stage Builder
- Complete overhaul of the mode.
- More customization options.
- More freedom with gamepad.
- No cap space for placing object.
- Unlockable objects to use.
- Less "generic" background options.
- Multiple music tracks.
RETURNING
All-Star
- Works similar to like it did in Brawl.
- This time you do not go to the rest area after every franchise.
- You battle around 5 or 6 franchises in a row before having the option to go to the rest area.
- This will speed up gameplay and difficulty for this regularly tedious mode.
Classic
- Returns like in the similar fashion to Brawl.
- Random order of characters you fight along your journey.
- You don't fight the whole roster in one play through.
- Many options return like giant battles, teams, Multi Man hordes, metal battles, trophy collection, break the targets, board the platforms, race to the finish and finally a battle with Master Hand.
- This mode still unlocks the main trophy for the character.
- Can be played in co-op.
Challenges
- Similar to how they appear in Brawl.
- Some challenges are strictly in game.
- You are having a vs mode battle, a star rod appears, a challenge bar then appears at the bottom of the screen that says "KO opponent with Star Rod!"
- Completion of this task will unlock something.
Event Mode
- More interesting event ideas.
My Music
- This was a great feature, no reason for it not to return.
- Hoping that there is an even bigger database of songs this time around.
Replays
- Need to be longer than 3 minutes.
- Have rewind, fast forward control.
- Ability to upload to Smash Channel and Miiverse.
Pictures
- Camera needs to have more freedom throughout the map.
- Gamepad can be used to take pictures during matches without disrupting gameplay.
- Pictures can be saved into a photo album and uploaded to the channel/Miiverse.
- Daily Miiverse challenge pictures will become a thing.
Break the Targets
- Returns with individual character stages.
- Puts more emphasis on mastering each character in order to complete their stage the fastest.
- Online leaderboard for times.
Board the Platforms
- Returns with individual character stages.
- Puts more emphasis on mastering each character in order to complete their stage the fastest.
- Online leaderboard for times.
Race to the Finish
- Returns with individual character stages.
- Everyone would choose Sonic if it was the same stage.
- Need to get from each checkpoint within certain time limit
- Online leaderboard for times.
- Option to race other players/ghost times.
Trophies
- Great feature that need to remain unchanged.
Vs. Records
- Return in the same way.
- Maybe include more information like favourite stages, most used attack, favourite item
- Can be viewed with each individual character profile, or the Smash save data as a whole
- Have all character records on one page with options to zoom in. Easier to go through and see which characters have how many KO's when they are all on the screen at once (like 64)
Rotation
- Never used this function.
- Cool addition for friends who like to argue about who gets to play next.
- No reason not to keep it.
Tournament
- Online mode with a central waiting area hub where fighters can run around beating up on other players or sandbags while waiting for matches. Incorporate a way to view other players info and have picture/replay sharing options.
- This area needs to be exciting enough that people don't get bored and leave while waiting for their matches.
- Miiverse/Smash Channel hosted tournaments where winners get rare stamps/trophies
Special Brawl
- Needs to return with a lot more options.
- Especially an option that only allows items to damage players.
Boss Battle
- Needs to return if bosses return to adventure mode.
Homerun Contest
- Great mode, needs to return like it was in Brawl.
- Now with an online leaderboard for the furthest hit, furthest with each character, and a combined record.
Multi Man
- Need more interesting options.
- A tower defence mode where you must defend an area from continuous waves of fighters would be cool.
Training Mode
- Return the same.
NOT RETURNING
Masterpieces/Chronicles
- Great addition, but they need to go.
- Took up way to much development time.
- They just need to market these games in the Virtual Console with Smash somehow.
- Chronicles were a cool database, but Nintendo should just make an official one and not rely on Smash.
Coin Launcher
- Was fun for a bit, but very tedious.
- Lottery was too boring of a way to collect trophies.
- They need to create some new Snag the Trophy mode.
Stickers
- Can do without them.
- They were kind of pointless and not really even necessary for Subspace Emissary completion.
- Cool addition to show off more characters, but generally useless.
- Easily replaced by stamps
Coin Battles
- Does anyone seriously prefer this mode over stock or time?
I know you all are creative and have great ideas. Let's here em!
