Game freezes while adding battle portrait

I'm editing project m to have more costumes. They work, but while using brawl costume manager, I noticed that the battle portrait was missing. So I just added the brres file that came with the costume to the "portrite" folder (and added the number that corresponded to the costume that I wanted to replace.). It froze. So I downloaded the original file brres file (straight from brawl) , edited it using brawlbox, saved it and tested it. It froze. This doesn't happen with the csp or battle results portrait. What did I do wrong?
