Game Freezes on WiFi?

I've installed Project M on dolphin, and used the "homebrew option - wifi safe" set. Everything works great! ...Until you go to screen where you put other's friend codes or see your own friend code. Upon opening this screen, the game will drop to 1fps and pretty much lock up. Obviously this makes it impossible to play with friends... any way around this?
