Future of PM after Oct. 3rd (New techs?)

Project M was made out of brawl to become more closely to melee but "not" a melee 2.0

Hences why they kept brawl stuff like:
- glide tossing,
- reverse jump,
- pivot grabs,
- footstools,

And some other ones which I need no stating. Now I can see smash 3DS / Wii U has some new stuff like the reverse Ftilt, would be nice if PM implements this which would requiere little to be done to inject such action to the game and would actually evolve a little.

Just made the thread to see what others think about this aswell.

PM doesn't particularly prefer to step on toes. Especially Nintendo's toes, those guys are crazy.

That could be seen as plagiarism, or a crime that better fits the situation

Hmmm using just a game mechanic wouldn't cause such problem, using characters from that game could perhaps or even stages or items, but something like the technique pivot Ftilt won't cause problems.

Well lets see, they stepped on Nintendo's toes long time, cause brawl is a game from nintendo and PM staff hacked heck of it lol, all PSA characters on vault are Nintendo's toes if you know what I mean.

Also if Smash 4 has something that's overall just a great mechanic I'd pry want something like it into PM, but right now having an easy pivot f-tilt and such should just be a Smash 4 thing

Pivot f-tilts are already super easy in PM compared to Melee where its like 1-frame timing without the flick method... You just can't do it out of a run without resetting your dash dance first (Which is also super easy in PM)

If they bring in anything from Smash 4, I hope its the ledge grab limit. The Project M manifesto declares that the mod aims to cut camping. One of the biggest enablers of camping in the Melee engine is ledge stalling, and cutting it out would be much appreciated.

The only characters that can really do a true stall would be Sheik and Mewtwo. I don't see a need for a mechanic change just for two characters.

I'm pretty sure Ganon can do fully infinite stalls just by doing drop down double jump. There might even be a few more (anyone know?)

Personally, I think anything toxic should be removed, and infinite stalls definitely fall under that category. I don't think we should change it the way smash 4 did, but I think a fix should be implemented. Even ledge stalling / camping that isn't fully invincible might be problematic in some match ups. It could be a simple "if you grab ledge x number of times you don't get invincibility until you touch the stage or get hit."

Jiggly can't ledge stall like sheik or ganon but she practicly dominates alot of approaches while ledge snapping and doing aerials. I don't know about something like this but a change like this kind will grow hate on some people.

Yeah jiggs at the ledge was actually my first thought. I'll admit that jiggs might need help in PM as is, but I still think such tactics should be nerfed in some way.

I think everyone will agree with me when I say the PMDT should replace DI with vectoring; in fact, I'm positive that people will flock to this idea.

Exactly, including mechanics from the new games would only add to the immensity of advanced techniques available in P:M. Not to mention that effectively all mechanics new in smash 4 accomplish things that can already be achieved with high technical skill in P:M, or they achieve things we don't want like hitstun cancelling or vectoring out of combos.

Of course, we see the PMDT pushing things more towards melee in 3.5 as it is, entirely new mechanics being added into P:M is completely preposterous, especially, I assume, from the view point of the team who have been struggling to balance the monstrosity as it was.

Any mechanic added would simply lower the tech ceiling to accomplish something already possible, or would inherently disrupt the balance and usefulness of the existing mechanics.

It would make sense to me if they just adjusted it so there were some venerable frames on stalling characters. Falco used to be able to do it in Melee, yet now he can't. Similar treatment all around seems fair to me.

I clicked forum > Project M General Discusion> (no PM 3.5 titled thread seen flagged). But Id id not went to their website. Gonna jump there ASAP (also the link u just shared.

Edit:

I just saw the blog and I can approve to the change, seems neat.

Also noted something on multi hits (smash4)...

If your vertical velocity is negative (fastfalling example) second or other non final hits have spike trajectory. Seen it on pikachu's bair and fair. Referring this as for the video I saw on the early posts... This I don't encourage to be on PM would be a bad thing to the game... But this also happens with mario's Dair if I recal. Only works on non first and non final hits

Thanks @ Narpas_sword Narpas_sword I actually forgot to press home, I got bored of pressing home as only saw smash 4 sakurai daily stuff which doesn't bring as much hype as needed. Thanks again.
