Fun Mode in Hyrule

To open this up: This is a fun mode to play brawl or melee in. Also mods I wasn't sure to put this in stage discussion or general discussion because it is a game mode on a certain stage.

Yesterday I was at my friends house and we played melee and we played what we call Cage Match. People probably already know about this but I thought I would post it. don't thnk during the middle of this This is from melee. Not brawl OMFG NOOB. I put the brawl twist at the end.

Ok, so first you need four people and two teams of two playing at Hyrule. Then at the lower part of Hyrule there is the little area near the "jail" cells, the sloped area of ground, and the circle platform. These are the three teritories. Then you have to decide how to divide up the territories. Team one can get Jail Cell and team two has one person at the slope and one at the platform, something like that. The territories are considered the sidelines.

The fighting arena (A.K.A. cage), is the bottom part of Hyrule. So then you decide who will fight first. Both fighters go into the cage while the teamates stay on their corresponding sidelines. The teammates can not interfere in the fight bellow (no arrows, bombs, or stuff like that) UNLESS the enemy fighter flies into your territory. If the enemy goes to your territory you can beat on them and fight them untill you kick them out of your territory.

So lets say the teams were Mario and Peach vs. Link and Zelda. If Link kills Mario in their fight, for the next fight Peach comes in and fights Link. Link can decide to tag in Zelda so that she can fight Peach. Tagging can be done by touching their teammate and saying "I tag you in" or something like that. So the fight goes on like that untill one team is victorious.

For every match you have to choose an "announcer" (that name doesnt really fit but..). The announcer at random moments will yell/announce/say "Royal Rumble!!!". With this the people on the sidelines come down have a super fight. But once you die you can't rejoin the Royal Rumble. Also there is always a Royal Rumble when one team has one stock for each player.

We also made the territories capturable (no point in it unless you find some way of doing who knows what depending on the territory). At random points (like the Royal Rumble) the announcer will yell "Raid" Or something along the lines of capturing. As soon as this happens the territoris dont have owners. Now this requires teamwork. You and your teammate have to both do a taunt on the territory you want without one of the enemies touching it. Once you both taunt on it it is yours. The other team cant capture it, its yours. You can also do this instead of the royal rumble when a team has one stock left. And whoever gets all or most territories, or kills the other team wins.

Also people on the sideline can have a Donkey Kong Punch or Samus Lazer Charged up while they wait.

I am pretty sure this is all of it.

But now for Brawl I thought that whenever a smash ball would appear everyone can run for it and grab it. Once someone gets it the fight resumes as normal with one person out of the four with a killer attack ready to be unleashed in the small area.

Ok now THATS all. You can tweak and modify the rules as you wish. So please give some feedback and try it out!

Yeah my friend sort of was annoying with the raid. But if your friends wont go like "OMG WTF THAT NOT A WAVEDASH SHFFL!!!!!ONEONE" it works.

Sounds like something I'd do if I got melee 6 years before I did and didn't discover this darned forum with all its competitive playing information.

I don't get the part about doing a taunt on the territory you want. Didn't you say each team starts out with their own teritory? If somehow one team can lose theirs, then where does the partner wait? they'd have to be in the cage and then 1 person would get ganged
Getting the different territories is pointless unless you find an advantage to one territory.

Ok lets say Mario and Peach are on the slope, Link is near the celss, and Zelda is on the platform. During the "raid" the territories lose ownership. then everybody fights and taunts and etc.

Wow... I can't believe it, but my friends and I like to do that sometimes too. It's actually pretty fun when you're not in the mood for a long, crazy smash battle with 4 Player Free For Alls.

My friends also put titles into the matches. One of them, for instance, was "Ninjas VS. Italians". It was Sheik and Sheik vs. Mario and Luigi. It was pretty fun... the ninjas took over the right hand side of Temple and the Italians took over the left.

It's so funny how many different things people can come up with to keep themselves entertained...

Another idea I cam up with once in Invasion. Essentially, a Stamina match with just Super Scopes and Ray Guns allowed, on Very High appearance rate, and NOBODY can use Special moves except for recovery. On any large level with at least two definable areas (e.g, the two "halves" of Hyrule Temple), have two teams starting at each side (Preparation time is given to get to your places) and essentially, both teams have to shoot and shoot alone their opponents, and attempt to survive without contact. If someone goes in close to someone else, they can use standard A button attacks and Smashes, but are at risk of their teammate covering them with the gun. Friendly Fire is turned OFF, so if you plan to Smash someone, look out for their teammate with the Ray Gun. To enhance the game, you could also use Mines, Stealth and bombs for heavier artillery.

In Brawl, this will be improved a LOT, since you can run with guns, and there are a lot new items and ways to play the game. For instance, on Hyrule Temple again, you could have one player with a Cracker Launcher ducked below the stairs, firing shots at the enemy, while their teammate is Stealthed and heading underneath to jump them almost unseen, while they plant mines on the tunnel to block the path and throw Gooey Bmbs over towards to guy with the Cracker Launcher. Another option os to remove Melee attacks entirely, or have ranged character be able to se their weapons (an advantage to Snake & Samus). It's great to play as long as people stick to the rules, and could be enhanced even further with the new Unique Brawl mode. Remember to do a STAMINA match though, otherwise nobody is going to die anytime soon.=P
