I just sat in the lab for two hours straight and ended up experimenting. I discovered Fthrow>ken combo for myself and it seemed quite alright. This seems like a really obvious and easy thing for anyone, so i was wondering if it was actually effective because i see absolutely no one do it in tournaments (or that could just be me being unobservant)

What percents did you find it worked at, because an opponent will more often than not be touching the control stick for DI

Marths will usually DI down and away from the fthrow, so it may work. I think it's more effective on peach actually lol.

it was often working at 20-40 if i remember correctly. i didnt have anyone to practice with so i just set up a cpu, and im pretty sure they only do survival DI

I've seen PP get it a few times I've also seen pewpewu do it in marth dittos, basically anytime fthrow fsmash would work you could dair but the percents wont always allow it to kill and its also very dependent on position, it works best as a surprise tactic but you have almost no time to read DI usually either.

Also ending in a spike doesnt make something a ken combo =D

Even the "gods" as people seem to claim these days make mistakes and stuff like this happens from time to time. The benefit is that you can react to DI. If they DI up for you, then why not Fair? Its not a bad choice really. If the DI and percentage on said character on even the Fair is good you can follow up with 2nd jump Dair.

The only thing about this is you should not make this your sole strategy and expect it to work. If Fthrow -> Fair -> Dair works, its should be a result of you reacting to each transition rather than blindly making the motions to follow through with this each and every time.

Yeah, Ken combo generally only works when they mess up and DI in to the stage after the fair. It's situational, not a reliable set up.
