Friendly fire in Team Battle?

Basically, how awesome would it be if there was a friendly fire option in Team Battle? In other words it could allow two members of a team to pull off tag team style attacks manipulating the game's physics engine.

Picture it. A spammy Pikachu player is on one side of the map, and Luigi is on the other side. Mario could go behind Luigi and blast his bro with FLUDD while Luigi charges up the Green Torpedo, thus sending Luigi flying towards Pikachu, and probably KOing him.

But if you end up KOing your partner in time mode, you lose two points for your lack of strategy.

...This has been in Smash since Melee. http://www.ssbwiki.com/Team_Attack Actually Smash 64 might have had it as well now that I think about it.

"Team Attack, named Friendly Fire in Super Smash Bros. Melee, is an optional feature for Team Battles appearing in the Smash Bros. games. Normally, teammates are incapable of attacking or damaging each other, with attacks simply passing through them with no effect. Activating Team Attack disables this immunity, allowing teammates to hit or even KO each other.

On the surface, Team Attack has no advantages and is simply a hindrance (for example, teammates must get out of the way of projectiles). However, it does give rise to some new strategies"

It's ok to be wrong, We aren't born knowing everything in universe. SmashBoards is a place where you can debate with people and is also a place do discover and learn new things about smash bros! I learned a lot here... and I'm still learning!

While you're at it, since it seems like you like the idea of creating strategies around team attack you should look up some N64 or Melee Double Tournaments. I don't know specific matches, but I am sure you will see plenty of people hitting their own allies back to stage (saving them), grabbing and throwing their ally into an enemy so that they can "save" their double jump and even just plainly hitting their ally to place them into position to hit the enemy. It's happened before.

I don't need Team Attack to kill my friends.

I was playing Wario and my friend, Ganon. I threw one of our foes offstage, directly into my pal, who happened to be using Flame Choke to recover.

Cool as hell. But I also got punched. :p

I've been playing Smash since it came out on the N64 and I can legit say that I never noticed a friendly fire option. The more you KNOW
