So I'm playing project m on my wii u and it's been working fine up until I discovered that you can add additional costumes, stages and etc. on your own so I figured heck why not? I followed the one and only video tutorial on youtube about adding customs to project m and I did everything it said. I decided to test it by putting mega charizard x and every time I start a match, it just freezes. I've looked everywhere for an answer, but I didn't really find anything helpful.

Am I missing something? Did I do something wrong?

Ps: I'm using the Hackless wii (wifi-safe) set and I feel like I shouldn't be using that one for what I'm trying to do.

I've experienced that issue with the newest versions of Brawl Costume Manager. What probably happened is that it accidentally placed one of the CSPs into the battle portraits. The game then tried to load an image that was too big, resulting in a crash.
You should be able to fix this by going into projectm>pf>info>portrite and deleting all files that are greater than 4kb (or whatever size the majority if the files in that folder are).
