The Ice Climber freeze glitch is allowed if the Ice Climber player does
not use the tactic to indefinitely stall the match, and can resume gameplay
after initiating the glitch without the consent of the opponent smash
DIing back into range of a regrab. Should the game be unable to be completed
through this tactic, the match is restarted with the Ice Climber player at a 1
stock deficit, and the opponent gets to keep their stock and resets their
percentage to 0.
What do you guys think of this?

Weak penalty imo, but let's hope people can smash DI. The freeze glitch and wobbling usually lead to the same outcome. I have no problem with wobbling, but I'm generally against the freeze glitch.

so if the IC player accidently freeze glitches high up then they basically sacrifice a stock?
Only if they can not get you out of the freeze glitch. If you get frozen on the ground they can regrab to get you unfrozen. But if the freeze glitch happens and nana upthrows or something, you can not unfreeze.

It's really hard to accidentally do the freeze glitch, as doing the glitch itself is tricky. I don't see the point in the rule as IC's have enough methods of utilzing other grabs to need the freeze glitch implemented.

I think that if the freeze glitch results in an unfinishable match the ICs player should just get an automatic loss.

I actually do support the unbanning of the freeze glitch in tournament play though. It's a LOT harder than Wobbling but it achieves the same thing, and the IC player risks losing the match if he tries to use it (assuming they use the rule I stated above). Even with the other proposed rule it's basically a much riskier version of Wobbling.

I don't know why anyone would try it though. If you pass the opponent to Nana there's only a 1/4 chance she will do a forward-throw, which is the only really reliable way to initiate the glitch (it's really easy to time the forward-B). There's also up-throw but that's bad for obvious reasons. It'd be more practical near the edge but still I'd just opt for Wobbling.

I completely agree. In almost every other fighting game tournament done on consoles, you get an automatic loss for just pausing.

If you are on a platform level you could just knock them up near one of them so you could regrab. Wonder if thats allowed
According to those rules, I don't see why not. ICs can't really control where their opponent will freeze, so are you talking about after a uthrow?

Well, if you are smart about it (though using the freeze glitch isn't smart even if it's allowed), you just wait for the forward-throw. If you know how to time it you should be able to freeze off the forward-throw with like 95% consistency.

I don't see the poin, as many others have stated, it is way to risky in comparison to the wobble.

I don't care for the freeze glitch at all. Granted in some friendlies against Storms I did it by accident by the edge and he got thrown up and I was like uh..... Yea so Wobbling I find worse because if I can do it on command anyone can. It is too easy to do the Freeze Glitch requires some timing.
