So there was I, playing some random For Glory matches, having fun and wishing the lag wasn't so terrible.

When suddenly, this fight happened.

I was almost scared, I had absolutely no idea what the heck was going on or what was that player trying to accomplish, but I just couldn't freaking stop laughing while it happened, it was just so confusing! I can't help but to feel like we were actually playing different games and I was the real loser there.

Anyone else had a match that was just incredibly random, funny, or just plain weird while playing online?

I've had some matches where players just go completely stupid. And this is after some of them have completely wrecked me. It is so confusing.

Some people just like to be dumb. Not sure why they do it in 1v1, the game has no mechanic to detect suicide victories so it actually helps your opponent to do that lol.
I had about 3-4 people in a row immediately commit suicide after i killed them once. One wasnt even a stomp, i had like 130% or something and managed to get him first. Suicides and leaves the game. Dafuq? lol

He's trying to signal you his friend code through an elaborate dance called "Show Me Your Moves Code" (SMYM code for short). You should have been writing down the numbers.

...

But seriously though, 10 years ago during my early teen years I remember playing kid-friendly MMOs where we weren't allowed to directly chat to each other unless we exchanged codes. We developed an elaborate system to signal the codes through the limited in-game chat system. It was awesome, I felt so smart.

This happened to me too. We both picked white/pink falcon. In the beginning I couldn't tell which one I was so I ran to the right. Saw Falcon falling off the stage so figured that was me, and then I attempted to save myself then lol'd as the other Falcon SD'd. Then I realize it was actually me who SD. The guy I was playing with was pretty cool and SD'd in return. We played about 10 or so matches with various matchups so I think he didn't want to win like that.

Put a futuristic race car driver in the world of a children's story book and just watch how crazy they go.

Poor Captain Falcon. :p

My guess is that the fighter was a beginner and couldn't control Falcon's speed.
Anyway, no weird encounters for me.

I think I fought this guy earlier today, or at least someone similar. He went Dedede and just ran around the stage doing nothing but walking and rolling. Not attacking or anything.

I don't know if this counts, but yesterday, I played against a red megaman in FOR GLORY mode whom I guess though that smash bros for 3DS was a classic mega man game and not a platform fighting game where *gasp* not knowing how to attack in midair much less shield or use any other attack besides standard attacks can get you killed rather quickly! (in his defense, he used leaf shield at one point and seemed to know how to recover which didn't matter much in the end as my fierce deity link made short work of him in roughly a minute)

Played 2 rounds with a Little Mac.

I get bodied the first round and just barely win because I cheaped out and decided to play it extremely safe.
Next round, I take both of his stocks while only at 17% with 2 stocks.

Seriously though, I had a really weird match where this guy used Bowser's suplex throw thing when the stocks were 2-1.

I had the 2 stocks.

I want to say that this could've been me, but then I remembered that I never used Red Mega Man. And I'm not THAT horrible with Mega Man anyways.

I'm pretty sure that if one of you disconnects in the middle of a fight, an AI replaces the other player.
This would explain these two observations:
1. Sometimes i'm getting wrecked, then the connection lags. After that, it's as if the other player had a lobotomy and only knows how to walk forward into my attacks.
2. I have never had a match stop totally due to a disconnection

That totally explains it. It's happened twice to me in the last 3 days that I've been playing. I have really close battles with a guy and then all of a sudden he acts like he doesn't want to fight anymore. I thought it was him having to leave and the little sibling taking over or something.

Matches stop due to disconnections only in For Fun. In For Glory it happens as you said.

What I was wondering yesterday is if victories count when one of the players disconnect in the middle of a fight?

Whenever there's lag I usually Self-Destruct.

I also felt sorry for this one guy I was beating mercilessly, so I decided to go easy on him for some reason.

Based on the video it looks like he was trying to do a ledge grab for some reason and failed. Then the rest of the match was him determined to do a ledge grab.

I had a 1v1 For Glory where Little Mac SD'd himself twice on that match by trying to forward special me, all I did was spot dodge it and he fell off the stage.

I played a Little Mac who was really determined to beat me, he almost beat me the first game before I realized if I sit near the edge and bait a dash attack/whatever that charging sliding punch mac does, and timed Greninja's Substitite right he would slide off the edge and be unable to recover.

Now there is noting weird about that, but he played me 8 more times after that lost every match, and most of my kills were baiting him with substitute. I left because I felt bad. Thanks to him I almost have a winning record...almost.

That... sounds pretty bad to be honest, I'd much rather have the fight stop than to fight against a lie. Especially in For Glory.

Either way, I don't think that's what happened here, never seen a bot of any level just randomly escape towards the ledges, strart repeatedly crouching while facing away from me, and then just suddenly walking off the stage and fast falling to its death. Don't think I'd just keep having atrocious lag against a freaking AI either.
Also what the heck happened to your circle pad?
A combination of Street Fighter and long finger nails.
