FPS drops on menu screen changes (Dolphin)

Hi all. Been searching around in regards to this issue, but haven't been able to find anything. I recently installed Dolphin and set up Project M on my machine. It plays smoothly during matches, but I get FPS drops whenever I enter a new menu screen (for example, when loading the controller config screen after inputting a tag). Normally the lag is permissible, but sometimes it could take a whole 5-10 seconds for the menu to load. Would greatly appreciate any help.

Below are my hardware specs:
  • Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
  • Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics: Intel Iris
And below are my enabled Dolphin settings (I'm on v4.0-652):
  • Enable Dual Core
  • Enable Idle Skipping
  • Framelimit: 60
  • JIT Recompiler
  • DSP HLE emulation
  • CoreAudio
  • Use EuRGB60 Mode
  • Backend: OpenGL
  • Resolution: 1x Native
  • Skip EFB Access from CPU
  • Ignore Format Changes
  • EFB Copies: Texture
  • Texture Cache: Fast
  • External Frame Buffer: Disable
  • Cache Display Lists
  • OpenMP Texture Decoder
  • Fast Depth Calculation

Dolphin has to generate shaders every time (especially on the dc-netplay branch because it can't save anything) it loads something new. The effect can be more or less noticeable depending on hardware. The reason why it lags when you select controls is because it has to generate the mario model. Actually I believe some Dolphin devs are working on a new revision of Dolphin for Netplay which would eliminate this issue. Keep in mind though this will probably take some time to be released. You could try using the latest dev versions of Dolphin if you're playing offline. Disable OpenMP decoder btw, I found out that shouldn't be on.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just wait until the new netplay version is released.
