I play mostly fox and sometimes falco. Whenever i play falco, i get worse at playing fox. When i play fox i get worse with falco. I dont understand why because when it comes to advanced techs they are really not that different. For example, i play fox and waveshine pretty good, then i try waveshining with falco i just shine then full jump. I can't sh with falco, but i can do it very well fox. (Falco's sh is supposed to be easier wtf)

Has anyone experienced anything like this, perhaps between other chars with similiar movesets like marth or roy? Does anyone have an explanation why this is happening?

both of them (although the movesets are the same) are very different. and i don't think falco's waveshine will be as effect as fox's. maybe u just need to oriantate urself for when u use different characters. or just work things out mentally and get a slight feel to each character when u play >.<

I bet its just the differences in timing that is messing you up. I know when I play two similar characters back to back I blend them together and end up playing like crap. Only thing I can think of is playing a completely different character before you switch from fox to falco or vice versa. It might serve as enough of a buffer to help ya.

Even if the movesets appear similar, the timing on everything is very different, along with the combos. Fox isn't Falco, and therefore needs to be played differently. A lot of times I've gotten worse with one character because of playing another. This is temporary though, and usually only happens because it's been a while since playing one character (because i've practiced more with another) so it takes time to adjust. If this is the case, don't worry. Just make sure to practice with both if you intend to use both.

However, I've gotten better with all my other characters when i practiced with one before. Usually because of the type of mindgames that i'd have to develop to make one character effective enough to beat people who are good at the game. Or, because by taking a break with one character I'm not practicing bad habits. It's no big deal.

Fox's jump leaves the ground a few frames earlier than Falco's. It changes the timing for short hopping and wave dashing enough to mess you up if you're not used to the shift. I find it easier going from fox to sheik of samus than to falco, just because of the jump timing

Fox's jump leaves the ground 3 frames faster. It's a HUGE difference in playing. The shines are used at very similar times (after an aerial so you can stop shieldgrabbing and for progressing combos), but then you have to jump out of it. They have slightly different recoveries and weights as well as the difference between SHL and SHDL.

It's really those few frames of lag on the ground that causes EVERYTHING to mess up.
