Hello all, this Thread will be about the aggressive fox play style/pressure. Feel free to post anything concerning fox, match ups, pressure tactics, tech skill practice, etc.... Fox as we all know is top tier, but he is a very technical character to use. I will do my best to respond to any questions asked. Happy Smashing.

I like to do anything to put myself in place for an up air or up smash, if not i just go for shine spikes and swag as much as i can.

I'm a marth main, and I'm trying to learn fox because I've realized that my playstyle is too aggressive to be a decent marth main.

How do you deal with players that dash around and play very patient (always waiting for you to approach)?
I have tried to over-shoot my attacks, but that doesn't seem to work well as they can respond to me dashing towards them.

Watch the match at 9:50 and maybe the one after that too on pokemon.

Also, I seem to get punished very hard for minor mistakes. Could you please point out a few times where I could have done something to get out of a combo/setup?

Any other advice is welcome.

Thanks!

Your link doesn't work. Overshooting generally beats backwards movement, but if you can't make it work you could try to laser them in the face a couple of times to make them less willing to play passive. Mix up with aerial interception and WD back.

Getting punished very hard for minor mistakes is something you have to deal with as Fox. You can minimize damage with DI and techs, but being preemptive (don't get grabbed, lol) is the best way to deal with it. Don't do poorly spaced approaches. Use your movement to bait stuff, and punish laggy moves.

If they're dashdancing at shorter distances, you could try walk up jab->grab. If the distance is longer, run, cancel run with crouch, jab->grab. If the distance is more variable, again, walk forward, max speed, follow them so you're always close, or able to close distance in initial dash. Beware of crouch cancelling.By walking forward, you're approaching the entire time, it's aggressive as you can get! Running or walking forward into shield is still aggro in my book because you're taking ground. Oh yeah, cp people to small stages and abuse invincible ledgedash, it's broken. Don't nair people who CC a lot until extremely high percents. If the opponent tries to wall you out with ftilts, some variation of hold forward, shield, retaliate will work when they can hit, and if they miss, they give you a free smash attack, shine, or grab.
