Hi guys,

I recently dug through my closet for some spring cleaning and unearthed a whole bunch of stuff. Among these unearthed childhood treasures included a no-longer-working Super Scope, a NES Zapper, two SNES systems, a NES that's in need of maintenance, various Gameboy Advance peripherals, but most importantly, my old Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness Gamecube, 2 Gamecube memory cards, a copy of Smash Bros Melee, and my old wireless Wavebird controller. A lot of these things are in great condition!... Except for that last thing.

The WaveBird is physically busted. If I pop in some batteries, I'm sure it functions fine, but it has two glaring problems.

1) Analog Stick. Totally popped off and brokeded.
2) Battery cover. Nowhere to be found in all those old boxes in my closet.

Was wondering if there was a way to replace those two missing parts? I searched online and came across various replacement sticks of varying designs, and I was wondering if any of them in particular are better than the stock analog stick? Or if there's any repair shop here in Toronto that you guys know of that can fix these issues.

I'm sure the former is easier to replace than the latter. Might just have to make do with taping batteries in if I can't find a cover.

Thanks!

I can't find much. You're just going to have to scour eBay and Amazon. Look for a used controller at GameStop and swap out.

Game Stop doesn't sell GCN stuff anymore. Kinda, you won't find anything first party but there is a Game Stop brand GCN controller that you might be able to use if they still carry it.
Not sure if he would want the stick from that. I remember the GameStop controllers being pieces of garbage, but I guess having a semi-mediocre, semi-bad stick is better than no stick at all.

The GameStop analog sticks aren't compatible. You're going to want to get a used 1st party GameCube controller or a Wii Classic Controller / Classic Controller Pro to take the stick from.

You will most likely need soldering experience to replace it.

Your best bet is to hit up Amazon or eBay. Or you can try flea markets if you have any where you live. Apparently they sell more than just fleas.

Thanks guys. I think I might just toss it, or if anyone lives near Toronto, thinks they could fix it and wants to take it off my hands, I can sell it to you for considerably cheap, given its poor condition. I don't really need to play from all the way across the room, so I can live with wired controllers. It's just, damn does the lack of analog stick and battery cover trigger my OCD hard :(

You might be able to sell the receiver online for a good amount of money. The lone receiver itself goes for anywhere from $20-30 depending on its condition.

This. Tons of people are selling the wavebird without one for considerably less. Maybe you could buy one that way?
