I've heard this suggested a few times just as something people would love to see and use in general. But as far as it appealing to both casual and competitive players, I think having Final Destination versions of every stage does that well enough.

That would be great for a option to turn off stage hazards i don't wanna deal with the yellow devil and other useless stage bosses.

I have an idea that's called "Stock Team Battle"

Depending on the number of stock, depends on how many characters each player chooses.
Each character uses one stock.

For example if it was set to 3 stock, I would choose 3 characters eg. (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Lucario)
During the match I have 3 stocks but only one for each character, once pikachu dies I loose a stock, and can no longer use pikachu I then use jigglypuff until she dies then I use Lucario.

As an easter egg if you choose an all pokemon team, pokemon trainer shows up in the background to support you.

How? There is literally a debate on whether or not Final Destination should still be in competitive play because it gives an advantage to certain characters (Marth). Whether or not the advantage is great enough to warrant a ban is in question.

However if you consider that competitive players are even thinking about banning Final Destination should tell you something. WE DON'T ONLY PLAY FINAL DESTINATION. I hate how Sakurai made For Glory mode and is one the worst additions to the new game for competitive players.

A) It perpetuates the stereotype of competitive smash being: No items, Final destination, All Fox. To the entire player base. All casuals will see us as this now which can persuade them to not playing competitive because there is no variety, which is FALSE.
B) As a community Final Destination isn't the only map we play. However if we want to try and practice online without items we only have one option, only Final Destination. This makes it harder for casuals to become competitive and learn how all the maps play in a competitive setting with other players.
C) Out of all the stages in the games for competitive the most common I see are Smashville(Project M/Brawl) and Battlefield(Melee). Final Destination is in the top, but not alone. (I do not know enough about S64 to comment on it)
D) There is no ranking system. Sakurai states that instead of a normal ranking system saying how you rank compared to other people or even a ranking system like Starcraft/LeagueofLegends he prefers a ranking system for SINGLE player that averages how you do in SINGLE player and ranks you globally depending on how other people do in SINGLE player. Yeah it could be a translation issue and maybe he meant Single player as in when you play alone on a console. However he mentions that it is also affected by how well you do single player events so... I'm not hopeful.

Anyways I didn't mean to write a wall of text. But I have seen a lot of people (non-competitive players) saying that competitive players should be happy with this feature and how we should stop complaining about not being listened to by Sakurai.

Just because he named a mode For Glory doesn't mean it is what competitive players ever wanted.

On topic, Sadly Sakurai has shot down this idea. Hopefully we can turn Stage Bosses off, but I'm not holding my breath.

I definitely agree that the Final Destination solution isn't perfect, a Battlefield version of every map would have been much better, though still not perfect. I'm well aware that Final Destination isn't the only level that competitive players play on. All I was saying was that the Final Destination maps are essentially a less customizable version of what OP was talking about (no stage hazards, walkoffs, bosses, ect.). It's not perfect, but it does its job.

Actually, there might be such a mode going off of a screenshot in the video shown at E3. There's three teams (potentially four based on screen space) with nine characters each, with a pie chart featuring the usual R/B/G team colors if I remember correctly.

I understand your point. I don't agree on For Glory fixing the issue even remotely. Turning off stage hazards would give us more stages to play for competitive. All maps FD doesn't do this. It just gives us different backgrounds of FD. No variation. This does not give the competitive any more tools or anything to help reduce the random factors that ruin most maps for competitive play.

Here's an example:
I have a red BMW. I want a Mercedes. My wife paints my BMW blue. I still don't have a Mercedes or a new car.

We have standard final destination. We want different maps with platforms and etc. We're getting repainted final destination. We still don't have a variety of competitively viable maps in online play.

OP, I don't think you can really claim that this is your "most ingenious idea yet" when everyone thought of this already.

The closest thing we have to a Hazard on/off switch is the FD form of each stage. That said, I would have liked such an option.

This too. The idea has been floating around for long.

It would indeed be a shame if Smash 4 doesn't do this, when Kirby Fighters did. (Kirby Triple Deluxe)

It's a good thing that Nintendo isn't keeping any secrets to fans awaiting the release of "Super Smash Bros 4." The creators behind the game are willingly providing daily updates on what's new. Hence, fans of the game are getting more excited by the day.

The game will be a couple of months away, but starting now, you can already paint a good picture of what the game will offer come October and December. According to Breathecast, there will be nine new characters, namely Pac-man, Greninja, Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma, Little Mac, Lady Palutena and Mii Fighters.

Apart from the four new entrants, there's a rumor that there will still be 9 new additions. The unconfirmed list includes Lucas, Solid Snake, Mr. Game & Watch, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Wario, Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer, Ice Climbers, Falco, Ness, Mewtwo and R.O.B. Who are you rooting for to make it to the final list?

As for the characters that are surely in the game, there's Mario, Luigi, Link, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Bo

wser, Samus, Fox, Pit, Kirby, Olimar, Princess Peach, Zeld, Toon Link, Lucario, Diddy Kong, Charizard, Yoshi, King Dedede, Zero Suit Samus and Shiek.

According to GameNGuide, Link will have an alternate costume, one that looks like his costume in "Skyward Sword." There will also be a new mini-game for the 3DS version, which is the Balloon Fight. Rumor has it that Nabbit will interrupt players when playing the mini-game.

A lot of people are excited with the addition of the Mii Fighters. But there's another good news, the Mii Fighters are customizable. The imported heights of the Miis will dictate whether the character will be a slow or fast one.

Game Informer reports that Masuhiro Sakurai, director of "Super Smash Bros 4" said, "Some of the physical characteristics of Miis get carried over when you use them as Mii Fighters. The smaller ones become speed fighters and the bigger ones are more akin to power fighters." However, customizing their height and weight is only for appearance purposes.

The thread used to be about being able to turn off things like stage hazards and walk-offs.

I'm not sure i get it. whats so bad about it? seems like a typical article about smash. there something im not seeing?
I think it has something to do with getting the details wrong. Such as Balloon Fight being a 3DS minigame with Nabbit guest starring.

Literally the only thing wrong that they say.

Might as well bash them for having one detail wrong.

Why is this a thread again? Why completely change your whole thread and delete everything that it was? I'm legitimately confused as to why you did that. I guess since you're new mistakes like that are expected. Its just kinda confusing to everyone...
