HUGE shoutout to Ryan Zhu, BTDB, and WarriorExo for inspiring me to make a KOTH version of Sm4sh.

Manager applications are open! In order to become a manager, you must:
- Be active on this thread, the google forms, and the Skype chat.
- NOT tell anyone the email address or the Youtube password.
- Be respectable and patient.
- Among other things that I will look for in you.
Managers will be chosen at a later date.

KOTH is based on a ranking of all the players joining the tournament. It follows these rules:

• To join KOTH, you have to have a smashbaords.com account and a Skype account. You may not join with two or more smashboards.com accounts. If you meet the requirements and wish to join, fill in the form above. You will be added in the participant's Skype chatroom after you respond to the contact request from a manager and confirm your sign-up. You can start challenging right away.
• There are different classes of players:
  • The King is the #1 Player.
  • The 2-15 Players are noblemen. (Nobleman are separated into Gold, Silver, and Bronze status. There are 3 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze noblemen)
  • Players between 16 and 45 are vassals.
  • Players below 45 are peasants.
• New players start from the bottom of the ranking.
• Players may challenge other players to move up rank.
• Challenging ranges:
  • If you want to challenge a peasant, he has to be within 20 positions above you.
  • If you want to challenge a vassal, he has to be within 10 positions above you.
  • If you want to challenge a nobleman, he has to be within 5 positions above you.
• Player vs. Player battles are best of 3, all KOTH rules apply.
  • If the CHALLENGING Player wins, he moves to a position above the defending player.
  • If the DEFENDING Player wins, no one changes rank. The defending player collects a certain type of badge, depending on the class of the challenger. You get a badge for beating a peasant, a badge for beating a vassal and a badge for beating a nobleman.
• King vs. Player battles are best of 5, all KOTH rules apply. You may only challenge the King if you are in position Noblemen #2 - Noblemen-10. (the top 10 on the rankings) If the CHALLENGING Player wins, he moves to King, and the King goes to 2nd.
• It is the responsibility of the winner of these games (unless badges were spent, in which the badge spender enters it) to enter the result of the set into this form: http://goo.gl/forms/BV1oY6X7Ez
• Two players who have fought must wait 3 days before battling each other again.
• You may play more than one set at once.
• If a set is interrupted and is not continued for 7 days, the player who is unable to finish the set loses.
• Players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to record their games. If you want your set to be on the King of the Hill Youtube channel, please upload them unlisted to your youtube channel as unlisted and fill in this form: http://goo.gl/forms/eQW6uC7n6X

• Any disputes will be resolved by the managers.
• Extended periods of inactivity will cause players to get moved down. Players who don't play for 4 weeks get moved down 7 positions, if they don't play for 6 weeks, they get moved to the bottom.
• If you for some reason can't play KOTH in a while, you can go into holiday mode. [HM] rules below:
  • Apply to or from [HM] using this form: http://goo.gl/forms/ZTPCF27I9D
  • You cannot play any battles while you are in the holiday mode.
  • If you play a game, you leave the holiday mode.
  • You can be in Holiday mode for at most 6 weeks.
  • You have to wait at least 48 hours, before you leave HM again.
  • If you are in holiday mode, you won't get moved because of inactivity.
  • You still move down if a player above you gets beaten.
  • Ranks 1-3 may also go into [HM] but they will get moved down to the equivalent of non-[HM] rank 4 if they do so.
  • If you go into [HM] your name will be removed from the rankings and relocated to a list of participants in [HM]. A separate document is kept which records the relative positions of players, which will help us determine your rank upon leaving [HM].
• All actions that are in "bad faith," that is, not in the friendly, polite spirit of KOTH are prohibited. The managers reserve the right to judge whether actions taken in "bad faith" and assign consequences accordingly.

The Knights:​

In King of the Hill there are some very strong players who are called Knights. You need to spend 2 badges to play them. If you win against a knight, you jump to the 15th position in the rankings which is the last nobleman position.
Sets against knights are best of 5, all the King of the Hill rules apply. I will pick knights at a later date.
You want to become a knight? Hit me up on Skype and I will give you a trial, probably 5 or 7 matches.

3 Stock, 8 minutes, No items.
No Customs whatsoever.
Mii Fighters are allowed.
First map is Smashville. Loser picks subsequent map after winner strikes two. Dave's stupid rule is on. Any of the following maps may be played: Duck Hunt, Town and City, Battlefield, Lylat Cruise, Dream Land 64 (if both players have it), Final Destination.

If you are a vassal or a peasant you can pay 2 badges to challenge a knight and if you win against them in a best of 5, you will jump to the 15th position of the rankings, the last nobleman position. You may not have any incomplete series when challenging a knight.

Badge Worth:

1 = 2
1 = 2
So, you can use one and one to pay for 3 worth.

I will add more to the shop once people start getting more badges.

If I don't have a capture card or a serious YouTube channel, but I don't mind my replays being saved, would I be able to save an in-game replay and send it to you or someone else?

Sorry if that sounds like a silly question... I've never played a King of the Hill game for anything before, but this looks kind of fun, so I'll sign up.

From what I have heard, you CAN send it to me via Miiverse or something, and from there I can probably record it.

While I have heard however, that in August, you will be able to send replays to Youtube, I don't think it'll suffice. It probably wont meet the needs of the "unlisted" requirement.
