For People Without Wii U's...

What will you guys do if Ridley, Mewtwo, and others get confirmed as characters you can obtain only by linking the systems together? I personally want a Wii U, but I haven't had enough games coming out that I want to justify paying the money. If there are characters I can only obtain by linking the 2, though...

If they announce new characters for the Wii U release, I'm pretty sure they will also be released for the 3DS. There's no way that they'll make the roster exclusive to one console either way.

I don't mean them making the characters exclusive to the Wii U, I mean if they release some characters that can only be obtained on both the Wii U and 3DS by connecting the 2. People have been theorizing that, and I don't like the thought of it :/

And this would still make them available for both systems. It just keeps them from being available for people who don't HAVE both systems(or at least without access to both systems)

That is not going to happen. They wouldn't lose the opportunity of selling those characters as DLC for the 3DS version.

I do not believe that this will happen either; however, if it did, I would not purchase a Wii U for a couple of other characters unless I already intended to purchase said Wii U.

I plan on getting the Wii U version regardless (for Zelda 2015, Mario Kart, others...) but I don't have faith in this Wii U unlock theory, not with out them also making it available as payed DLC.

The Wii U connection theory might lead to a short term gain in moving units, but would hurt their reputation with gamers in the long run.

Just find a smashfest near you with someone who has Smash Wii U.

But it's very unlikely they'd do that when they have Amiibos as an option to market DLC.

Once again this theory keeps the rosters the same. Some people just won't have immediate access .

I've stated this in other threads already that I think the theory's plausible but the extra character would be dlc for the 3ds version while linking both copy's would give you the characters for free.

My theory is Character DLC. They released the 3DS version first with some missing characters and when the Wii U Version comes around it will launch with all characters and the 3DS will have a patch that releases the rest of the cast.
