Lately I've been playing lots of For Glory than I usually do and people seem to change names to mock opponents. For example, my friend was recently was insulted and called racial slurs with the name options. So I'm just curious, is for glory the saltiest mode in sm4sh?

That will be a yes, my friend. There's always salty people in for glory and will rage quit, too; But don't take them seriously.

To be fair: It never has been any different in online gaming.

I have no idea why Nintendo lets the other players see your tag.
As if they really didn't think people would abuse it.

Once, I took an early stock off of a Sonic and then double SD'd because he was annoying and boring to fight against. He then proceeded to change his name to "LOLPUSY". So, yes.

Pretty much. It is not a For Glory thing, it is a human thing really. There are just too many awful people out there sadly.
