For Glory 1v1 - Why do opponents just stop fighting?

I've had this experience more than once, against different players. I'll be doing a set of matches against a competent player. Then, in the next match, they'll suddenly just wander about and not really fight. They don't SD or anything. They just essentially let me beat the crap out of them. And then after that they disconnect.

What's up with that? Is that some weird piece of etiquette I'm unaware of? Is it taunting? It may as well be, because it sure made me mad this last time when I was fighting a tough Link, who then just stopped fighting. I literally yelled "FIGHT ME!" at the DS because I was still trying to figure out how to handle him, and it made me kinda angry that he suddenly wasn't giving me any kind of a challenge to learn from.

Sorry if it makes me sound like some kind of weird tryhard, but man, if you're gonna leave, just leave. Don't waste my time like that.

I'm pretty sure it's due to a disconnect error. I've had it happen a few times before. As far as I'm concerned, beating this version of a player does count in your For Glory stats, so it's nothing to get too infuriated over.

I'd rather just get a "your opponent has disconnected" message and be credited my victory if it happened mid-fight if possible, but what's worse is I hate wasting my time beating on this level 3-or-so AI.

I honestly don't mind it, I find it kind of nice to cool down for a minute if you ask me. Only thing I wonder about is why it's only in 1v1 that this happens? In every other mode a disconnect error displays on the screen, so it is a good question as to why this happens exclusively in 1v1 For Glory.

Yeah but usually no one I ever meet on FG likes to cool down. I taunt at the beginning of every match and most people see it as a free hit :sadsheep:

I'm pretty sure if they leave they are replaced with a pretty low level bot. Maybe that's why but idk.

A note to everyone: the opponent still moves around, they just don't really fight. So they aren't afk or anything.

You know, I was wondering about that. Maybe that's it? All of these instances have had the opponent fart around in pretty much the same manner, so maybe that's it.

This is definitely it, 100%. I've confirmed this by actually finding someone from For Glory on here and they reported that I too acted like a bot which is something I most certainly did not do.

If this is happening when they have the stock lead, then it could be that they're waiting for you to approach. Generally approaching is riskier and you're more likely to use moves that they can punish. So, they do it because it's advantageous for them.

If they don't have a stock lead then I'm not sure what the reason is.
