I dont know if this is old or not, but I found something with Ness that carried over to Yoshi because they both share unique double jumps (strangely, Lucas couldn't use this 
)
Anyways, out of a normal footstool, Yoshi cannot connect with any of his aerials.
You can short hop footstools also. On certain characters, this allows you to connect his nair. I havent tested it with many pople, but I know Mario and Luigi can be short hopped footstooled to nair. It doesn't work on some people like Wolf or Diddy.
BUT, after a footstool, you can double jump almost immediatley. Since Yoshi has a double jump that stalls him in place a bit, you can use this to your advantage. Short hop footstool, double jump immediately, then use your nair. It will connect on all characters.
