Flat Zone X/Duck Hunt/PAC-Land have no Z Axis

The significance of having no Z Axis isn't really all that important, although it is still notable as some moves which benefit from a Z Axis become slightly less useful on these stages, and vice versa with moves that are hindered because of their Z Axis. I tested this by seeing if I could use Yoshi's Down Taunt to avoid Pit's arrows, which would be possible on a 3-D stage. I've concluded that it is impossible on the three stages mentioned above. The reason why it is more important now than it was in previous installments is because we now have legal stages where the Z axis is not present, most notably Duck Hunt since it does not have to be in Omega to be legal. It still remains pretty trivial, though. From what I know, these would be most affected:

- Yoshi's ability to dodge Pit's Arrow's with Down Taunt (pretty useless anyways)
- Dedede's spot-dodge is worsened
- ROB's spot-dodge is worsened
- Wario's spot-dodge is worsened (don't know if it's good to begin with, don't play Wario)
- Wario's Nair might be worse in terms of dodging attacks(can't confirm)
- Charizard's sweetspot on Nair might be affected (don't know if it's for the better or worse)
- Luigi's Fireball will not give his upper body "invincibility" frames (not sure if it does anymore anyways)
- It feels like Mega Man's Fair is more likely to connect, same with Bair. Could just be a universal thing with aerials
- Greninja's F-Smash is more likely to connect without a Z-Axis. Credit to Lavani
- Diddy's Uair might be easier to connect (I know what we're all thinking here...)

tl;dr, Spotdodges are overall worse with some characters being more heavily affected. Moves with blindspots that help avoid attacks such as Wario Nair or Luigi Neutral B are also worse. Likewise, moves that are hindered from blindspots such as Greninja F-Smash are better.

Huh, that's actually kind of interesting. Granted, Flat Zone and Pac Land will never be legal, but I actually didn't think the z axis had that many effects in general on the game play. Granted it's mostly just spot dodges and the occasional aerial, but it is a interesting piece of knowledgethat might be an interesting thing to know with certain match ups. Thanks for finding it.

How convenient, I was about to ask this in the mechanics thread. Thanks! Now I can figure out if Greninja's blind spots are Z axis related.

EDIT: Fsmash connects properly on Flat Zone, it's a miracle!

By the way, it's kind of interesting to note that Omega Flat Zone is literally just Final Destination without an Z axis, unlike most Omega stages which add jumpable walls, unjumpable walls, grass, smaller sweetspot etc. I heard Greninja already had an advantage related to Flat Zone so I guess if you play Greninja, you can have Omega Flat Zone as a starter instead of FD assuming Omega stages qualify as starters. Hopefully, the other guy doesn't know the cheese you're getting them into.

Might be interesting if we ever decide to limit which omegas are allowed.

Eh. I never liked the Duck Hunt stage and while I understand why people would initially think it's okay, it's still really just...messy. I personally think it shouldn't be allowed in tournaments (However I am willing to play it if it is) and this is just another reason.

Interesting stuff. Hopefully this will make stage selection (especially for Omegas) more interesting instead of being used to limit the selection even more.

Meh, until we study about it more, I'm still inclined to say that almost nothing significant is changed. The most notable examples of change are Greninja, Dedede, and possibly Wario, and even they don't feel much different.
