Given the 35-character roster is final, which is just about confirmed, what are five things you like and don't like about this game? I'm making this topic because even though I'm very much on the "I hate Sakurai for leading us into believing there would be 40-50 characters and then falling short" category...I feel like Brawl still has plenty going for it that will make it fun.
So I'll start,
Like
1. Most of the new challengers. Dedede, Sonic, Snake, Ike, PT, Metaknight, etc. all look awesome. It is easy to forget how great playing with them will be because most were announced a good while back, but they all look great.
2. Larger/more interactive stages. Every stage in Brawl looks huge to me. There aren't many that look mediocre. And I'm sure there are plenty of stages that haven't been announced yet (hopefully...)
3. Assist Trophies. A great idea all-around.
4. Online play with friends. Should have been there anyways but nice to see it confirmed early on.
5. Final Smashes. I know a lot of people are wavery on these but they looked awesome to me when first introduced and I can't wait to use one. It makes playing with characters like Mario that I never used in Melee all the more appealing.
Dislike
1. The delays. An obvious choice. I don't mind that the game is coming out March 9th. It absolutely sucks, however, that Sakurai got me all hyped up for a December release date to delay it two months. And it sucks even more that we got an additional month delay while Japan got only a one week delay.
At least give us some sort of reason as to why the delays are happening. Especially in the case of the second delay.
2. Clones (if true). I don't know if Ganondorf, Falco, and Ness truly are clones in this game but that seems to be the early word on them. If true, that is just terrible.
3. 35 (or 39) characters only - After Sakurai posted newcomers early and often on the Dojo, I fully expected forty-fifty characters as mentioned before. His comments about the game being overloaded with content and etc. really seemed to indicate that the number would be high.
I don't want a ridiculous amount. But I would really like someone to explain to me why, if there are clones, Roy, Pichu, Dr. Mario, and Mewtwo had to be cut. Why can't we have 10 more characters that are clones with small tweaks so everyone has their favorite characters?
If we got 39 different movesets, that is a pretty good haul. But if there is even one clone, I just don't understand why there can't be more for the sake of pleasing everyone.
4. Online play against random people - Timed matches with random items with no ranking implications? Pass.
5. Delays again. More than anything...nothing has p***ed me off more about Smash than the random extra three weeks I have to wait compared to Japanese gamers. That, in combination with the somewhat disappointing reveals of secrets in the game, is a big reason why I, and it seems like many others, are down on the game right now.
Even though overall it does look great.
So that is my list.
